The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Mallister tries to clinch up and Sheven counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Mallister! Sheven might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mallister haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Mallister tries to lock up and control but Sheven gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Sheven fails to take his opponent's back. Sheven trying to control but he's not successful this time. Sheven jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mallister manages to avoid the submission attempt. Sheven wants to control the action but instead Mallister gets a body lock and reverses into Sheven's guard! Nice work!
