Coming up we have a light heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Tangaroa Ngata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Garik Andonian (ranked 21281 p4p, 0 weight class). Ngata comes into the arena with Soundcritters - Haka War Chant blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Tangaroa Ngata! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 5 losses; Garik Andonian! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Ngata has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ngata has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Andonian uses from the top position. Ngata pulls Andonian in close to his closed guard and prevents Andonian from doing any damage or advancing position. Ngata continues to stall. Andonian preventing the sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Andonian is looking to advance position but Ngata has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! That's one minute gone in the round. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Andonian can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Andonian is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ngata controlling the pace for now. Ngata has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. This is a sustained period of stalling by Ngata.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've been hearing good reports from Ngata's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Ngata's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Andonian tries to hold on but Ngata postures up. Ngata controlling the position easily from mount.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Andonian has left one of his arms exposed and Ngata doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Andonian screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
