Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Matt Motts (ranked 6240 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Thompson (ranked 3847 p4p, 182 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Motts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Thompson! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Motts throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Thompson sees it coming and avoids it easily. Horrible takedown attempt by Thompson or perhaps it was just good defense by Motts, which made it look bad. Motts throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thompson was covering up waiting for the punch and Motts finishes the takedown easily into guard. Motts working some strikes from top position. Motts avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Motts postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thompson looking to control.
Thompson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Motts not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Motts with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Motts throws a big right hand that misses. Motts controls from within his opponent's guard. Motts is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Motts is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Motts distracts Thompson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Motts forces his way into half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Motts connects with a nice short shot to Thompson's temple. Thompson wants to improve his position but Motts is controlling well.
Motts controlling the pace. Thompson is staying active underneath Motts, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Thompson is looking to control Motts's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Thompson avoid being mounted?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thompson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Motts connects with a nice short shot to Thompson's temple. Thompson wants to control but Motts is keeping busy and won't allow it. Motts sitting and controlling from the half guard. Thompson trying to control here.
Motts looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Thompson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Thompson has hold of Motts's hands but Motts slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Thompson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Motts postures up and lands a big shot to Thompson's brow. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Motts's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Motts engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Motts pushing down on Thompson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Motts trying to control the action but Thompson is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Motts working Thompson over with strikes. Motts is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Motts lands a big shot there that rocks Thompson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Thompson wants to control but Motts is having none of it. Motts has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Motts controlling the position easily from mount. Motts with the ground and pound from mount. Motts lands a big shot there that rocks Thompson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Motts unloading with bombs! Motts has control of Thompson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Thompson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
This has been an exciting period of action! Thompson is working to get back to half guard.

Motts has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Thompson's face.
Motts controlling from the full mount. Thompson is looking to improve his position but Motts isn't that keen on the idea. Thompson tries to hold on but Motts postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Not this time though. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Motts in particular looking to stall. Motts looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Motts controlling the action here. Motts is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Motts is pressing down on Thompson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Thompson is holding on for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Motts wants to take a breather but Thompson is having none of it. Thompson is looking to improve his position.
Motts in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Thompson tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Motts!
