Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tumleh Schmitt (ranked 4230 p4p, 416 weight class) and Carl Berg (ranked 6611 p4p, 518 weight class). Berg has chosen Three 6 Mafia - That's Right ft. Akon, Jim Jones as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Tumleh Schmitt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carl Berg! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A kick lands to the mid section there for Schmitt. Schmitt misses with an attempted mid kick.
Schmitt fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Schmitt pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Schmitt throws a head kick that Berg semi-blocks.

Berg has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. An inside leg kick lands from Berg. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Schmitt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Berg was covering up waiting for the punch and Schmitt finishes the takedown easily into guard. Schmitt has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Berg shoots for a double leg takedown but Schmitt sprawls well. He's pushed Berg's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. and Berg counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Schmitt shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Berg napping and manages to drive through into side control! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Schmitt creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Schmitt laying and praying for a moment but Berg takes advantage and regains half guard. Schmitt is working for a kimura but Berg is defending it quite comfortably.

Schmitt looks to land a strike but Berg avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Berg wants to sweep but no luck. Schmitt is pushing down on Berg's leg trying to pass to half guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. Berg can't keep his opponent in guard - Schmitt advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Schmitt decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Good exchange - Schmitt coming out on top. Schmitt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Schmitt shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Berg pinned against the cage. Berg gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Berg lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Schmitt circles away quickly and effectively. Schmitt moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Schmitt throws a right and a left that Berg avoids nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Berg shoots in looking for a takedown but Schmitt manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Berg's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Berg blocks a head kick by Schmitt.
Berg lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Schmitt takes one on the button. Berg leaves Schmitt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Berg shoots in for a takedown but Schmitt shows good takedown defense. Schmitt throws a body shot but no joy. Schmitt looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Berg lands with an overhand left. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Schmitt throws a leg kick which misses Berg's front leg but catches the back leg as Berg tries to avoid it. Schmitt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Berg misses with a few strikes there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Berg walks forward, straight into a front kick from Schmitt. Berg moves out of range of the body kick. Berg fails with the takedown. Tumleh Schmitt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Berg. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Schmitt - that will leave a mark!
Schmitt shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Berg is trying to defend but Schmitt finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Berg has hold of Schmitt's hands but Schmitt slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Berg is trying to get back to full guard. Berg gets back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Schmitt throws a sloppy head kick and Berg moves out of range easily. Berg throws a nice looking combination but Schmitt bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Berg moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Berg throws a series of punches but Schmitt avoids them all with ease. Schmitt throws a push kick but Berg slaps the foot to one side. Despite the aggression on Berg's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Horrible takedown attempt by Schmitt or perhaps it was just good defense by Berg, which made it look bad. Berg slips a jab from Schmitt. Berg lands a jab-cross combination. Berg shoots in but no luck this time. Schmitt misses with a kick to the body.
Schmitt closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Schmitt working Berg over with strikes. Schmitt thumps the canvas. Berg lands a nice hook to Schmitt's body. Schmitt takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Schmitt dives in and scores a takedown into Berg's guard. Schmitt won't allow Berg to get back to his feet. Schmitt slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Berg has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Schmitt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Schmitt drops back, looking for a kneebar! Berg looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Berg looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Berg! Schmitt taking punishment in the form of punches.

Schmitt appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Berg lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Schmitt circles away quickly and effectively. Schmitt fakes the leg kick and cracks Berg in the body. Berg avoids the head kick by Schmitt.
Berg throws an overhand right that lands on Schmitt's shoulder, as Schmitt tries to avoid the shot. Schmitt leaves Berg with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Schmitt drops down looking for a counter takedown but Berg sprawls and moves away. Berg takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Berg throws a hook but Schmitt blocks it. As Berg tries to get set, Schmitt tries to push him back and clinch up but Berg manages to avoid the attempt. Berg walks into a jab. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Schmitt pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Carl Berg has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tumleh Schmitt is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Berg gets caught napping as Schmitt dives in and scores a takedown. Berg manages to retain guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Tumleh Schmitt showed his dominance in that final round. Well Schmitt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
