Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kilo Nibster!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Reed Andrews and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nibster looks for a takedown but Barr sprawls well.
Nibster shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barr but Barr pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Nibster closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Barr pulls Nibster into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nibster accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barr with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Nibster can't handle though.
Nibster engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Nibster has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Barr is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Nibster would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Barr lands with a few short shots to the body.

Nibster is working for a kimura but Barr is defending it quite comfortably.

Barr looks like he's trying to stand up.
Nibster throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Nibster not doing much here.
Barr is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Barr is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nibster pulls his head out easily.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Barr shoots in for a takedown but Nibster shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Nibster shoots in but no luck this time.
Geoffrey Barr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kilo Nibster.
Nibster goes for a double leg but Barr avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Barr continues to drive forward.

Nibster closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nibster trying to control the pace.
Nibster drops an elbow to the side of Barr's head.
Nibster is taking a breather. Barr says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Nibster is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Barr has managed to free his arm - good work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nibster wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barr keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kilo Nibster dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nibster throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Barr shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nibster pinned against the cage. Nibster gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Barr defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nibster.

Nibster closes the distance and pushes Barr back into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nibster is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Nibster breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nibster enables Barr to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nibster manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Barr decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Barr avoids a punch combination nicely.
Barr attempts a counter takedown but Nibster avoids it well and moves away.

and Barr counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Nibster is controlling Barr's trapped leg to prevent Barr from advancing to side control.
Nibster is breathing heavily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nibster manages to get back to half guard.
Kilo Nibster has got the better of the ground game so far.
Barr is looking to take a break and control but Nibster is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Barr seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Barr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nibster is proving hard to escape from.

Nibster has an active guard here but Barr has managed to pass into half guard.
Barr wants to get back to his feet.

Nibster wants to control the action here but instead Barr manages to pass to full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Nibster throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Barr throws a big counter combination but Nibster scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

and Barr counters with a left to the body.
Nibster moves in looking to clinch but Barr pushes him off.

Barr drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Nibster wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Barr manages to pass to side control.

Nibster gets back to full guard.

Nibster has his foot on Barr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barr works his way back into a safe position though.

Nibster takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Barr with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Nibster seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Barr drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Nibster not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Barr loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Barr is looking to work some ground and pound but Nibster has wrist control.

Nibster throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Barr escapes and throws Nibster's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Nibster manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Nibster is trying to get back to full guard.
Barr lands with a punch from half guard.

Nibster wants to improve his position but Barr is controlling well.
Barr seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Nibster wants to get back to full guard but Barr has passed into side control.
Nibster takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Nibster is in all sorts of trouble here.
