Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frankie McGee IV! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Soda Popinski! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Popinski tries to clinch up but McGee IV circles away and keeps his distance. McGee IV drops Popinski with a left right combo! McGee IV follows him down to the ground into side control.
It looks like Soda Popinski has been cut. Popinski defending against the ground and pound. Popinski managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by McGee IV.
Popinski is trying to improve his position. McGee IV wants to control but Popinski is keeping him busy. McGee IV tries to advance to mount but Popinski denies him. Popinski regains half guard, as McGee IV was trying to land strikes. McGee IV not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. McGee IV with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. McGee IV misses the shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Popinski tries to clinch up but McGee IV circles away and keeps his distance. Popinski displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McGee IV throws out the jab. McGee IV lands a jab to the nose. McGee IV drops Popinski with a left right combo! McGee IV follows him down to the ground into side control.
Popinski is rocked! Popinski is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Popinski regains half guard there - taking advantage of McGee IV's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Popinski is not content to let McGee IV control the position. McGee IV is stalling here. Popinski is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! McGee IV seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Popinski has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. You can see the frustration on McGee IV's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGee IV is being controlled here. McGee IV is looking to reverse the position. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Popinski's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Popinski decides to stand back up. Popinski steps back and let's McGee IV get back to his feet. McGee IV misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Popinski.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! McGee IV scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Frankie McGee IV seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Popinski clinches. Popinski keeps control of McGee IV as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. McGee IV pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. McGee IV misses with a few strikes there.
Popinski avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Popinski ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Jab, jab by McGee IV - just one landing. A jab-cross combination lands for McGee IV and sends Popinski crashing to the mat! McGee IV follows him down to the mat - Popinski regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet! Popinski is still in real trouble! Can McGee IV finish him?
That has opened up Soda Popinski's cut even more. McGee IV has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Popinski is looking to improve his position.
Popinski seems to have recovered his senses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Popinski is not content to let McGee IV control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McGee IV performing his best blanket impression for a moment. McGee IV will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. McGee IV throwing shots but Popinski is blocking nicely. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. McGee IV wants to lay and pray for a moment but Popinski keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frankie McGee IV dominated that round. The cut man is working on Soda Popinski's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
McGee IV throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Popinski tries to clinch up. McGee IV misses with a wild body shot. Popinski tries to clinch but McGee IV is having none of it. Popinski tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McGee IV paws at him with a jab and circles away. A lazy left from McGee IV finds it's target. Popinski misses with the combination.
McGee IV lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Popinski falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
