The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza tries for a takedown but Mcpherson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mcpherson throws a big counter combination but Souza scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Souza misses with the body kick
and Mcpherson counters with a series of strikes. Souza will be more careful next time no doubt.
Souza lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Mcpherson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Souza manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Mcpherson postures up.
Souza wants to sweep here but Mcpherson controlling him for the moment.
Mcpherson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Mcpherson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Souza pulls Mcpherson in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mcpherson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Souza instigates a clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mcpherson manages to pull guard.
Mcpherson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Souza defends it easily.
Souza passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Mcpherson tries to improve position but can't.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Mcpherson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Souza on the ground.

Souza is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Mcpherson looks calm but he's in trouble here. Souza gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Mcpherson is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Souza lets go of the hold and Mcpherson can pop his arm back in it's socket.
