Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Dyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Spackman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dyer comes to the cage accompanied by Viva La Vida. Spackman comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Forgot about Dre kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Shawn Dyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Spackman!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Dyer.
Dyer tries to clinch up but Spackman circles away and keeps his distance.
Spackman fails with the takedown.

Spackman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Dyer working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Spackman.
Dyer wants to sweep here but Spackman controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dyer wants to stand and escape but Spackman is having none of it.
Dyer is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dyer wants to sweep but no luck.
Dyer has his hands on Spackman's head, controlling the position.
Spackman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Spackman won't allow Dyer to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dyer fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dyer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Dyer swings for the body but Spackman moves out of range.
Dyer throws out a loose jab but Spackman uses good head movement to avoid it.
Dyer looks to land a left hand but Spackman moved out of range nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Dyer. No joy for Spackman on that attempt.

Spackman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Dyer moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Spackman works over Dyer with some ground and pound from guard.
Dyer not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dyer looking for a sweep. Not yet Dyer, not yet.
Spackman wants to pass the guard but Dyer is keeping the position.

Dyer manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Spackman fails to land the takedown.
Shawn Dyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Spackman.

Spackman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dyer has control of Spackman's left arm, preventing Spackman from doing any damage.
Spackman prevents Dyer from getting back to his feet.

Spackman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dyer is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dyer has escaped and now he's on top!
Spackman looks gassed!
Dyer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Spackman throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dyer escapes and throws Spackman's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Dyer wants to control but Spackman is keeping him busy.

Dyer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Spackman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Dyer decides to stand back up.
Dyer tries to clinch up.
Dyer throws a one two combo.


It looks like John Spackman has been cut.
Dyer fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dyer is looking to clinch but Spackman is avoiding it.
Dyer throws a head kick that misses.
Dyer is looking to clinch.
Dyer lands a big uppercut and Spackman crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Spackman looks OK. Dyer waves Spackman back to his feet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dyer tries to clinch but Spackman moves out of range.
Dyer lands a jab to Spackman's midsection.
Spackman takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.


That has opened up John Spackman's cut even more.
Dyer cracks Spackman with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Spackman looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Dyer finish him?


Spackman is rocked!
Dyer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Spackman swats him away and circles back towards the center.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dyer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dyer lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Spackman is looking to close the distance but Dyer sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Spackman crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Spackman is OK because that was naaaaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Shawn Dyer!
