Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mats Veul (ranked 5897 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tex Walker (ranked 5882 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tex Walker! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Santiago Holmes and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Walker wants it to stay on the feet. Walker with the counter takedown but Veul avoids it easily. A clash of legs there as Walker blocks the low kick. Walker with the counter takedown but Veul avoids it easily. Veul misses with a jab, cross combination.
Walker is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Veul with a lazy takedown attempt and Walker counters with a single leg into guard. Veul didn't expect that. Walker throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Veul works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Walker with a flurry of punches that miss. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Walker stands up over Veul, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Walker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Veul looking to hit a scissor sweep but Walker is one step ahead there. Veul can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Walker controls the pace. Walker slips nicely into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker slips a nice elbow through Veul's hands, connecting with Veul's forehead. Walker stalling. Walker working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Walker connects with a nice short shot to Veul's temple. Veul wants to get back to his feet. Walker trying to control from half guard but Veul is working away. Walker sitting and controlling from the half guard. Walker missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Veul is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Walker throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Walker has eaten all the pies! Walker lands with a punch from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Walker working the head and body with strikes. Veul avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Walker. Veul is breathing heavily. Nice strikes from Walker there. Walker slips a nice elbow through Veul's hands, connecting with Veul's forehead. Walker looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Walker working over Veul with some ground and pound. Veul looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Walker. Walker slows the pace down in half guard. Walker looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Walker working Veul over with strikes. Walker lands with a punch from half guard. Nice strikes from Walker there. Walker is nestled in close to Veul, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Walker lands with a punch from half guard.
Veul is rocked! Walker lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Veul quite badly. Veul pulls Walker in close trying to recover. Walker postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Veul on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Veul doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tex Walker!
