PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Clemence Nassibu (ranked 5416 p4p, 0 weight class) and Attish Mubeen (ranked 5281 p4p, 0 weight class). Nassibu has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Clemence Nassibu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Attish Mubeen!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Sergei Dronov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nassibu ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mubeen moves away.
Sloppy strikes from Mubeen. Those never looked like landing.
Nassibu throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Mubeen counters with a shoot takedown. Nassibu fights it but they end up in guard.
Mubeen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mubeen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Nassibu is trying to control the position but Mubeen postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nassibu is really struggling to control Mubeen but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Nassibu is breathing heavily.
Mubeen is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Nassibu wants to sweep but no luck.
Mubeen content to stall in guard here.
Mubeen with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Mubeen tries to free his leg and advance position but Nassibu is retaining full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mubeen tries to stand but Nassibu is controlling from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Mubeen drops back looking for a leg! Nassibu is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nassibu manages to kick Mubeen off! Mubeen jumps back into Nassibu's guard.

Mubeen cracks Nassibu with a solid left hand.
Mubeen lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Mubeen is stalling in the full guard.
Mubeen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nassibu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mubeen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
More stalling from Mubeen.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nassibu fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mubeen tries to close the distance and clinch but Nassibu swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Attish Mubeen dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nassibu is trying to drag Mubeen to the mat but Mubeen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Nassibu tries to break the clinch but Mubeen is controlling the position.

Mubeen has Nassibu pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mubeen pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Nassibu tumbling to the mat - Mubeen dives into Nassibu's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mubeen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mubeen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nassibu is keeping the position for now.
Mubeen working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Nassibu's head.
Mubeen controls from within his opponent's guard.

Mubeen wanted to stand there but Nassibu had control of the position.
Mubeen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Mubeen drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Mubeen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Nassibu to see if he's OK.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mubeen moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Nassibu tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Nassibu manages to get back to half guard.
Mubeen slows the pace down in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nassibu wants to control but Mubeen is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Mubeen seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Nassibu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mubeen is working away from the top position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Attish Mubeen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Nassibu dives in for a single leg takedown but Mubeen sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Mubeen avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Mubeen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mubeen tries to move to mount but Nassibu blocks the move with his legs.

Mubeen stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Nassibu gets caught napping as Mubeen dives in and scores a takedown. Nassibu manages to retain guard.

Nassibu is rocked!

Mubeen stops Nassibu from standing up.
Mubeen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Nassibu has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mubeen is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Nassibu.

Oh Nassibu is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Mubeen stands up.
Nassibu seems to have got his legs back now.

Mubeen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mubeen lands a nice short elbow.
Mubeen is thwarting Nassibu's attempts to control the position.
Mubeen trying to control the pace.
Mubeen looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Mubeen not doing much here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nassibu will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mubeen tries to counter with a clinch but Nassibu shakes him off and moves away.
Nassibu checks a low kick from Mubeen.

Mubeen dives in and scores a takedown into Nassibu's guard.

Mubeen gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Mubeen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mubeen showed some decent athleticism there.

Mubeen wants to pass to mount but Nassibu is defending the position.

Clemence Nassibu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Attish Mubeen is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mubeen is looking to advance position but Nassibu won't allow it.

Attish Mubeen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mubeen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
