Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Armend Berisha (ranked 8069 p4p, 570 weight class) and Nuno Pontes (ranked 5890 p4p, 504 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Armend Berisha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nuno Pontes!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pontes throws a jab but it's blocked by Berisha.
Berisha shoots in but Pontes avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Berisha slips a jab from Pontes.
Berisha with a lazy takedown attempt
and Pontes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Pontes slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Berisha is rocked!
Berisha has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Pontes finds Berisha's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Berisha flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Pontes lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Berisha will be OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nuno Pontes!
Our winner, Nuno Pontes, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
