Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Beecher (ranked 3280 p4p, 341 weight class) and Harold Meechum (ranked 22272 p4p, 718 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Beecher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harold Meechum! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meechum tries to close the distance and clinch but Beecher swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Meechum clinches up against the cage. Beecher misses with a body punch.
Meechum is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Beecher to keep the fight standing. Beecher pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Meechum blocks a head kick by Beecher.
Meechum fails with an attempt to clinch.
Meechum shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Beecher as he jumps to the side. A little feinted left hand from Beecher on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Beecher stuffs the takedown. Paul Beecher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harold Meechum. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Meechum is looking to clinch but Beecher is avoiding it.
Beecher lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Harold Meechum has been cut. A decent looking body kick lands there for Beecher. Harold Meechum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Meechum closes the distance but Beecher moves to the side and Beecher counters with a body kick. Meechum looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round. Beecher connects with a high kick. Beecher jabs at Meechum's body. Beecher scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Meechum fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Beecher avoids it really well and circles away. As Meechum looks to move away, Beecher throws a big counter combo but Meechum just gets out of the way. Beecher has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Lovelair Muay Thai/MMA in the buildup to the fight. Beecher lands with a nice body punch. Beecher circles away from the clinch attempt and Beecher counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Beecher scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
That has opened up Harold Meechum's cut even more. Beecher throws a nice inside leg kick. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Meechum seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Beecher shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Meechum is backing up but Beecher catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Meechum covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Beecher Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paul Beecher! In his post fight interview, Paul Beecher started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
