Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Patton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnson Donson!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Donson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Donson decides to return to a standing position.

Donson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Patton bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Patton dives in for a single leg takedown but Donson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Patton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Patton enables Donson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Patton manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Donson sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Patton controls Donson momentarily but Donson frees himself.
Patton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Donson tries to free his leg and advance position but Patton is retaining full guard.

Donson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Patton, up you get!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Donson gets a takedown into half guard.
Donson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Donson prevents Patton from standing back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Donson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Patton to stand up.
Patton closes this distance looking for a takedown but Donson circles away.

Donson pushes Patton up against the cage in a clinch.

Patton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Donson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Patton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Patton's face as Donson controls the position.

Donson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Patton is looking to clinch but Donson is avoiding it.
Donson circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Patton drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Donson follows Patton to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnson Donson!
