Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Hudson (ranked 1175 p4p, 144 weight class) and Ickey Woods (ranked 1406 p4p, 178 weight class). Woods has chosen System of a Down- Chop Suey as his entrance music. Ickey Woods told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jeff Hudson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ickey Woods!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Woods scores with a hook to the body. Hudson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Woods looks to score with a jab to the body but Hudson is just out of range.
Hudson misses with an uppercut.
Hudson thuds his right hand into Woods's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Hudson throws a looping overhand right but Woods ducks down to avoid it.
Woods avoids the head kick by Hudson.
A nice side step and Woods releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Hudson tries to bum rush Woods with a series of wild strikes but Woods uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Woods takes the fight into the clinch.
Woods jumps guard but Hudson stands there with Woods around his waist. Woods gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Hudson trying to control the position from guard on top but Woods is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Woods has his hands on Hudson's head, controlling the position.

Hudson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Woods working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hudson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hudson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Woods has his foot on Hudson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hudson works his way back into a safe position though.

Hudson is looking to take a break and control but Woods is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Woods looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Woods has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hudson defend it? Woods steps over the head and cranks it - Hudson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Woods!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ickey Woods!
Ickey Woods very nearly forgot to thank Knockdown Clothes amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
