And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Soul Makossa! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Makossa wants to clinch up but Fairs keeps it at a distance. The fight stays on the outside here - Makossa looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Makossa shoots in and bounces Fairs off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Fairs (0) vs (2) Makossa
Fairs working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Makossa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Makossa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Fairs keeping full guard, as Makossa tries to pass. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Makossa slips nicely into half guard.
