Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Terence Gould!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luis Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Martinez.
Gould went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Martinez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gould throws a big counter combination but Martinez scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Martinez scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


It looks like Terence Gould has been cut.
Martinez throws a body kick that misses

and Gould counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Gould is thwarting Martinez's attempts to control the position.

Gould seems to be working for a kimura but Martinez defends the submission attempt.
Martinez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gould.
Gould could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Martinez looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Gould is taking a breather. Martinez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Martinez holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Gould lands strikes from half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gould lands a nice short elbow.
Gould wants to control but Martinez is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gould thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Martinez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gould's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gould's back!
Martinez tries to get the hooks in deep but Gould pushed the leg off.
You can see the frustration on Gould's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Gould breaks Martinez's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Martinez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gould is controlling him.
Gould might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Martinez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gould accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Martinez controls Gould momentarily but Gould frees himself.
Gould has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Martinez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Martinez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gould defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Martinez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gould sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Martinez somewhat.

Martinez has managed to clinch.
Gould is looking to break free of the clinch but Martinez has double underhooks.
Gould is trying to pull guard but Martinez turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Gould jumps guard but Martinez stands there with Gould around his waist. Gould gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Martinez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Martinez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Martinez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Martinez trying to control the action but Gould is working from the bottom.
Martinez is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Gould tries to escape but Martinez is in control.
Gould is trying to control Martinez's posture but Martinez avoids it.
Gould is looking to reverse the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gould prevents Martinez from moving into mount.
Martinez misses with the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martinez decides to stand back up. Martinez steps back and let's Gould get back to his feet.

Martinez drives through with a takedown into guard.

Martinez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gould looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gould looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gould!

Gould creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Martinez sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Martinez is trying to improve his position.
Martinez regains half guard, as Gould was trying to land strikes.
Gould prevents Martinez from improving his position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gould sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Martinez defending well though.
Gould landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Gould looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Martinez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Martinez flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Gould thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Gould trying to control from half guard but Martinez is working away.
Gould is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Martinez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A close second round but Luis Martinez will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Martinez has his hands on Gould's head, controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Martinez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Martinez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gould takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

A decent looking cross lands there for Martinez.
Terence Gould is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Martinez tries to bench press Gould off him but Gould keeps the position.
Gould creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Martinez sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

You can see the frustration on Martinez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Martinez sneaks back into half guard.
Martinez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Gould is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Martinez wants to get back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gould thows a huge punch but Martinez dodges it nicely.

Luis Martinez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Martinez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
