Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Petties! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Will Jones! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Petties backs up against the cage.
Jones keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Petties fails to land the takedown. Petties shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Jones is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Jones tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Petties defends well and Jones ends up having to push Petties into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Petties's waist but Petties gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side. Jones throws a leg kick and Petties counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petties slips a jab and a cross from Jones.
Petties feinted with a counter takedown. Jones fails to land the takedown. Brandon Petties has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will Jones. Petties closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Petties lands in his opponent's guard.

Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Petties is controlling him. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Petties throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Jones shoots in for a double leg but Petties sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Petties throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily. And Jones tries to counter it with a takedown but Petties pushes his down on his head and steps out. Petties shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily. Jones darts in and clinches Petties up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petties managing to block the knees to the body from Jones.
Petties wants to get back to striking at distance but Jones won't allow it.
Jones tries for a takedown. No joy.
Jones keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Petties's efforts to push away. Petties can't find room to land a body shot as Jones controls the action.

Come on Jones - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Petties manages to get himself to full guard.
Petties tries to land a sweep but no joy. Jones looking to pass the guard. Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Petties pulls Jones in close to prevent any damage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Will Jones dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Jones connects with a single shot there. Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Petties, pushing him back against the cage. Jones tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jones has Petties pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Petties manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Petties looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Jones is struggling to control the position. Petties has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Jones after a bit of a struggle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petties is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Jones ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jones no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones is pulling down on Petties's head. It's preventing any offense from Petties, at least for the moment. Petties trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jones's guard. Petties postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Jones is looking for a triangle here but Petties uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Petties wants to stand but Jones has his arm trapped.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Jones managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Petties.

Petties drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jones manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Petties has Jones in his guard. Will Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Petties half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Jones gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Jones blocks a body shot from Petties. Petties tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jones not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Petties shoots in but no luck this time. Petties's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Petties duly obliges. Jones fails in his attempt to clinch. Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.
Petties scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
And that's the end of the fight! Brandon Petties showed his dominance in that final round. I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
