Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pat Marr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, vitor silva! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marr connects with a looping right hand.
silva takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Marr looks to land a left hand but silva moved out of range nicely. Marr connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Marr is fending him off so far but silva persists. Nope, Marr circles away and we're back to standing. Marr lands a body shot.
silva looks gassed! Marr throws a left that rocks silva and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Marr dives into side control, looking to finish! Can silva regain composure!
silva is rocked! Marr controls the position from side control. Marr's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Marr lands some shots froms side control. Marr controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. silva is trying to get back to half guard. silva takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. silva taking a bit of punishment here - Marr scoring with strikes. silva tries to bench press Marr off him but Marr keeps the position.

Marr in side control lands a decent elbow. silva is working to avoid the ground and pound but Marr connects with a decent elbow. Marr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Marr lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. silva is letting Marr control him for a moment. silva tries to get back to half guard but can't. Marr works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Marr working the body and head with strikes. Marr advances to full mount.

Marr jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but silva manages to avoid the submission attempt. A lull in the action here. Marr connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused silva some visible discomfort.
That's three minutes gone in the round. silva is positioning himself to get back to half guard. silva takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
silva tries to bench press Marr off him but Marr keeps the position. silva is not content to let Marr control the position. Marr controls the position. Marr is looking to take a break and control but silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Marr lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marr lands a jab-cross combination. Marr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. silva is trying to get back to full guard. Marr working silva over with strikes. silva taking some punishment here, with Marr in his half guard. Marr takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Marr not doing much here.
Marr winds up and cracks silva with a swinging punch to the side of the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. silva is looking for a sweep. Marr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Marr takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Marr swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Pat Marr dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Marr with a body punch. A glancing blow. Marr throws a hook but silva blocks it. Marr tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but silva was well out of range. Poor timing from Marr. silva tries for a takedown but Marr circles away easily and Marr counters with a one-two to the body. Marr lands a jab to the head.
silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Marr counters with a nice uppercut. silva has his takedown stuffed and Marr counters with a left to the body. Pat Marr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of vitor silva. Marr jabs silva right on the nose. silva blinks but takes it well. Marr is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Marr closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. silva is trying to get back to half guard. silva takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

The referee will try and keep them active though. silva is looking to regain half guard here but Marr keeps moving and retains side control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Marr connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused silva some visible discomfort.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Marr looks to land a combination. silva sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Pat Marr is winning the standup battle so far. silva shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Marr scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. silva doesn't seem bothered though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marr lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Marr pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Good standup being displayed there by Marr as he connects with a hook. silva misses with a takedown attempt and Marr counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Marr looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Marr is looking to stand up but silva won't let him. There's a bit of a scramble here and now silva is on top in guard.

Marr tries to bench press silva off him but silva keeps the position. silva throws an elbow but Marr slips to the side and avoids it well. silva is trying to get an arm triangle but Marr is defending well. silva postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Marr throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent silva stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Marr lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Marr moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. silva takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. silva misses with a takedown and Marr counters with a lovely shot to the body. silva tries for a takedown but Marr circles away easily and Marr counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Marr thows a left - swing and a miss! Marr lands with an uppercut that bounces silva off the cage and back into rage. silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily letting Marr counter with a right hand. Marr fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
silva blocks a jab. silva misses with a takedown and Marr counters with a straight right hand. Marr is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by silva. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pat Marr dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Marr punishes silva's body with a nice straight punch. silva is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Marr lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Marr scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Marr just misses with a punch to the body.
A swing and a miss from Marr. Marr misses the shot to the body. Horrible takedown by silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Marr which made him look bad. Marr gets caught flat footed, as silva shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Marr trying to control the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marr bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in silva's guard. silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Marr is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because silva is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. silva tries to land a sweep but no joy. silva looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Marr moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. silva shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Marr decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in silva's guard. silva trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. silva looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Marr puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Marr is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. silva is trying to get back to full guard. Pat Marr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Marr slips a nice elbow through silva's hands, connecting with silva's forehead. silva flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Pat Marr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of vitor silva. A punch combination from Marr misses. Pat Marr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. silva tries for a takedown but Marr circles away easily letting Marr counter with a right hand. silva doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Marr connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between silva's hands. Marr misses with a looping left. Marr tests silva's chin there with a solid looking shot. silva closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - silva lands in his opponent's guard. Marr avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Pat Marr is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. silva gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Marr.
And that's the end of the fight! Pat Marr showed his dominance in that final round. Well Marr has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
