Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Khaled Al Khuzeem! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Trenton Diaz! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Santiago Holmes and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Al Khuzeem fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Diaz sprawls well initially but Al Khuzeem persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Al Khuzeem is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Diaz still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Diaz has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Al Khuzeem is looking to reverse the position. Diaz working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Diaz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Al Khuzeem has escaped the position, nice work there. Al Khuzeem managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Diaz.
Al Khuzeem tries to buck Diaz off but Diaz is having none of it. Diaz trying to control the action but Al Khuzeem is working from the bottom. Diaz throws a strike aimed at the side of Al Khuzeem's head but Al Khuzeem avoids it well. Al Khuzeem on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Al Khuzeem tries to get out of the position. Diaz tries to advance to mount but can't. Diaz tries to score with some ground and pound. Al Khuzeem controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Al Khuzeem parries the strikes from Diaz easily there. Diaz is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Al Khuzeem to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz wants to control but Al Khuzeem is keeping him busy. Diaz fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Diaz misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Diaz is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Al Khuzeem knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Al Khuzeem is not content to let Diaz control the position. Diaz working away. Al Khuzeem is trying to improve his position. Diaz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Al Khuzeem, who protects the arm well. Al Khuzeem is looking to regain half guard here but Diaz keeps moving and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Al Khuzeem has escaped the position, nice work there. Al Khuzeem tries to bench press Diaz off him but Diaz keeps the position. Al Khuzeem wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. Diaz tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Al Khuzeem throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land. Al Khuzeem tries to get back to half guard but can't. Diaz trying to control the position but Al Khuzeem is working away. Al Khuzeem is looking for a sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Diaz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Al Khuzeem misses with an elbow from the bottom. Al Khuzeem is looking to regain half guard here but Diaz keeps moving and retains side control. Al Khuzeem is not content to let Diaz control the position. Diaz tries to score with some ground and pound. Al Khuzeem controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Al Khuzeem is trying to improve his position. Al Khuzeem is trying to buck Diaz off. Al Khuzeem tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Diaz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Trenton Diaz dominated that round. That's time! Al Khuzeem's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Al Khuzeem as he jumps to the side. Diaz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Al Khuzeem's waist but Al Khuzeem gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Diaz off to one side. Al Khuzeem shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Diaz napping and manages to drive through into side control! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz tries to improve position but can't. Diaz sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Diaz is looking to escape. Al Khuzeem looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Diaz has been the more effective fighter overall so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Al Khuzeem blocks the strikes from Diaz.
Diaz is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Al Khuzeem seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Diaz tries to kick Al Khuzeem off but Al Khuzeem keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. It looks like Al Khuzeem is going to stand back up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Diaz wants to clinch. Diaz tries to sprawl but Al Khuzeem drives through with a takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Diaz pushes Al Khuzeem off looking to stand but Al Khuzeem dives back in and keeps control.
Al Khuzeem knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground. Diaz tries to roll over but Al Khuzeem keeps him under control. Diaz misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Al Khuzeem wants to stand but Diaz has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Al Khuzeem is nestled in close to Diaz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Al Khuzeem is keen to just control but Diaz is a slippery customer. Al Khuzeem wants to free his trapped foot but Diaz is holding on for dear life with his legs. Trenton Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far.

Diaz is in trouble now - Al Khuzeem has advanced to mount! Al Khuzeem fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Al Khuzeem lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Diaz is squirming around, avoiding Al Khuzeem's attempts to control the action. Al Khuzeem drops a big elbow. That's hurt Diaz! More shots from Al Khuzeem and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Khaled Al Khuzeem!
