Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alfonzo Barton (ranked 7272 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Gonzalez (ranked 6086 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Alfonzo Barton has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alfonzo Barton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Gonzalez! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Alyssa Summers and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzalez drives through with a takedown into guard. Barton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gonzalez is stalling in the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. It looks like Gonzalez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barton looking for a sweep. Not yet Barton, not yet. Gonzalez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Excellent takedown into side control there by Gonzalez. Barton being controlled for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Gonzalez just content to control the position. Gonzalez landing strikes. The referee asks Gonzalez politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gonzalez prefers to stall for the moment though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barton tries to bench press Gonzalez off him but Gonzalez keeps the position. A lull in the action here. Gonzalez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Barton is looking to reverse the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Gonzalez controls the position. Gonzalez wants to stand but Barton has his arm trapped.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Barton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gonzalez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Barton somewhat. Barton shoots for a double leg takedown but Gonzalez sprawls well. He's pushed Barton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. And Gonzalez tries to counter it with a takedown but Barton pushes his down on his head and steps out. Barton is breathing heavily. Barton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Gonzalez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Gonzalez dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Gonzalez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gonzalez controls the position. Barton gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Let's hope that Gonzalez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Gonzalez's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Barton tries to get to full guard but Gonzalez has control of the leg. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonzalez not doing much here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzalez prevents Barton from improving his position. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gonzalez in particular looking to stall. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Gonzalez. More stalling from Gonzalez. Yet more stalling tactics from Gonzalez.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gonzalez missing with a left hand there. Barton was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Gonzalez dives in and scores a takedown into Barton's guard. Gonzalez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Gonzalez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Gonzalez stopping the sweep attempt from Barton. Gonzalez controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gonzalez manages to get himself to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Barton is fighting to break Gonzalez's control of his arms but Gonzalez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Gonzalez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Barton stacks Gonzalez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Barton! Gonzalez wants to control but Barton postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Gonzalez manages to get back to half guard. Barton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Gonzalez has his hands clasped together around Barton's back. He's all about the action. Gonzalez pushes Barton off looking to stand but Barton dives back in and keeps control.
Gonzalez slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Barton stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Gonzalez has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Barton manages to get his head free but now Gonzalez has transitioned to an armbar! Barton grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Gonzalez! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Joe Gonzalez! Joe Gonzalez tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
