Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nate Young (ranked 5944 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adrian Meneghetti (ranked 4014 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nate Young! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Adrian Meneghetti! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meneghetti fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Young, pushing him back against the cage. Young tightens his grip and picks Meneghetti up, before dumping him to the ground. Meneghetti manages to land in guard. Young is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Young scoring with some ground and pound. Young makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Young trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Meneghetti looking for a sweep. Not yet Meneghetti, not yet. Meneghetti wants to stand but Young is controlling the position. Young won't allow Meneghetti to sweep him here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Meneghetti utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Young's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Young tries to free his leg and advance position but Meneghetti is retaining full guard. Young scoring with some ground and pound. Young is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Young not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Young throwing strikes but missing. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Meneghetti is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Young content to stall in guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Young scoring with some ground and pound. Young not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Meneghetti not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Young controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Young tries to bum rush Meneghetti with a series of wild strikes but Meneghetti uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Meneghetti tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Young has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Meneghetti shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Young is trying to defend but Meneghetti finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Young has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Meneghetti is on him like a limpet, forcing Young back against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Young keeps control of Meneghetti as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Meneghetti successfully pulls guard.
Young wants to pass the guard but Meneghetti is keeping the position. Young scoring with punches to the head and body. Young postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Meneghetti looking for a sweep. Not yet Meneghetti, not yet. Young sitting in guard, not really doing much. Young makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Young controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Young lands a couple of decent looking shots. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Young's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Young working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Young accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Young lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Young with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Meneghetti can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Young controls the pace. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nate Young dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Meneghetti looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Young! Young sneaks out the side door and pushes Meneghetti away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Young drives through with a takedown into Meneghetti's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Young distracts Meneghetti with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Young throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Meneghetti works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Young working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Young with a flurry of punches that miss. Meneghetti trying to keep a closed guard but Young is proving a slippery customer.
Young seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Nate Young overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Meneghetti has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Young can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meneghetti is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Young landing with the ground and pound. Meneghetti wants to improve his position but instead Young has moved into half guard.
Young looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Young content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Meneghetti has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Young is working away from the top position though. Meneghetti is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Young is staying active. Young with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Young is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Meneghetti can do to turn this around? Young is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Meneghetti defends it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Young scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Young looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Meneghetti with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Young perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Young seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Meneghetti for as long as he can get away with. Meneghetti wants to improve his position but Young is controlling well.
Young is looking for a kimura here.
Young seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Young lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Meneghetti is trying to control but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Well, if Young is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Young working Meneghetti over with strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nate Young dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Young tries to move into range but Meneghetti moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Meneghetti has managed to clinch.
Young keeps control of Meneghetti as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Young is struggling to control the position. Young breaks from the clinch.
Meneghetti forces Young back against the cage and clinches. Young goes for a takedown attempt but Meneghetti pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Young throws a lazy right hand but Meneghetti sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Young closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Meneghetti quickly recovers to half guard. Meneghetti regains full guard. Nicely done. Young postures up.
Young has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Young wants to control from the top but Meneghetti keeps moving. Meneghetti utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Young controlling from the top position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Meneghetti decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Young kicks Meneghetti off and gets back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Young changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Meneghetti looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. This has been an exciting period of action! Young works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Young is trying to get an arm triangle but Meneghetti is defending well. Meneghetti is trying to control Young's posture but Young avoids it. Young grinds an elbow into Meneghetti's temple. Young is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Meneghetti's shoulder. That is not cool. Meneghetti can't do much from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Young working the head with strikes. Young works to advance to full mount. Meneghetti defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Young working the ground and pound effectively.
Young working for a guillotine from mount but Meneghetti is in no mood to give up. Young wants to control the pace but Meneghetti is squirming around nicely. Nate Young is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Meneghetti working to try and regain half guard.
Young takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Young lands a heavy elbow. Young controlling the position easily from mount. Young is in the full mount, landing strikes. Adrian Meneghetti has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Meneghetti can't escape the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Nate Young showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Young, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
