Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marc Santana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pancho Chase! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chase moves into range and connects with a jab. Chase lands a slapping body shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Chase misses the target. Santana wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Pancho Chase seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chase fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Chase looks to throw the jab but Santana is out of range. Santana ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. An attempted straight right counter from Santana misses the target. Santana tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Chase manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Santana has Chase up against the cage in a clinch.
Chase lands a body shot in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Santana misses with a body punch.
Santana takes a shot to the head. Santana missing with knees to the body.
Santana lands a nice shot to the body. Santana doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Chase tries to throw a body punch but Santana avoids it by throwing Chase back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chase stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Santana can't find room to land a body shot as Chase controls the action.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Good body shot from Chase.
Come on Chase - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Santana takes a shot to the head. Chase blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Chase is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Chase lands a body punch. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Chase creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Chase lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Santana breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Chase throws a shot from downtown. Santana moves away and avoids it. Santana on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chase ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Santana is breathing heavily. Santana steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Chase. Chase fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Santana looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Chase smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Santana is rocked! Chase weaves into range and cracks Santana right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Santana goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Chase is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Pancho Chase!
