Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Skog (ranked 2916 p4p, 324 weight class) and Cian Cartwright (ranked 2470 p4p, 276 weight class). Cartwright has chosen Engulfed by Darkness as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dan Skog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cian Cartwright!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skog attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Cartwright darts in looking for a takedown but Skog gets double underhooks and turns Cartwright into the cage.
Skog is looking to slow Cartwright down with leg kicks.
Cartwright shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Skog but Skog pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Skog is looking to counter punch.
Cartwright fails in his attempt to clinch.
Skog appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
No joy there for Skog, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cartwright changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Skog tries to avoid it but Cartwright manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Skog to the ground. Skog escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dan Skog has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cian Cartwright.
Cartwright fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Skog chopping away at his opponent's legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Skog is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cartwright.
Cian Cartwright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cartwright stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Skog.

Cartwright gets a double leg takedown into Skog's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Skog is on top in guard.


That's one minute gone in the round.
Cartwright wants to improve his position but instead Skog has moved into half guard.
Skog wants to free his trapped foot but Cartwright is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Skog is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cartwright is just riding it out for now. Skog eventually gives up the hold.
Cartwright slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Skog with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Skog throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cartwright keeping moving, preventing Skog from controlling successfully.
Cartwright lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Cartwright postures up and lands a big shot to Skog's brow.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Skog is on top in guard.

Cartwright is looking to cinch up a triangle. Skog throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Cartwright's body to avoid the submission. Cartwright has instead reached around Skog's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Cartwright arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Cian Cartwright!
