Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Alfredo (ranked 5952 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikail Agayev (ranked 7566 p4p, 0 weight class). Mikail Agayev told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Alfredo ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mikail Agayev! The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Francis DeMontford and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alfredo feints a jab promting Agayev to slip. Alfredo then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Agayev slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
It looks like Mikail Agayev has been cut. Agayev changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Alfredo tries to avoid it but Agayev manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Alfredo to the ground. Alfredo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Alfredo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Agayev quickly recovers to half guard. Alfredo is pressing down on Agayev's thigh, looking to free his foot. Agayev is holding on for now. Agayev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Alfredo lands a nice short elbow. Alfredo controlling the pace. Alfredo is thwarting Agayev's attempts to control the position. Alfredo is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alfredo content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Alfredo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Agayev doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alfredo . Agayev is trying to maintain the position but Alfredo is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Alfredo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Alfredo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Alfredo sitting in guard here, content to control. Alfredo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Agayev working a defensive guard here.
Alfredo won't allow Agayev to sweep him here. Alfredo stands and throws Agayev's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alfredo content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Agayev is trying to get back to half guard. Alfredo looks up at the clock and then as Agayev takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Alfredo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Alfredo creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Alfredo controls the position. Alfredo tries for a kimura but Agayev is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Agayev tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alfredo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Agayev stops Alfredo from passing to mount. Alfredo has knee on belly and moves into mount. Alfredo looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Agayev bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Alfredo dominated that round. The cut man is working on Mikail Agayev's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Agayev tries to clinch up. Alfredo scores with a takedown into Agayev's guard. Agayev wants to sweep here but Alfredo controlling him for the moment. Alfredo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Agayev swivels though and keeps the full guard. Agayev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alfredo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alfredo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Agayev is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alfredo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Agayev is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Alfredo defends well. Agayev controls Alfredo momentarily but Alfredo frees himself. Agayev has a closed guard, preventing Alfredo from standing up.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Agayev fails with the takedown. It looked like Alfredo was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Agayev. Alfredo lands a left and a right that send Agayev crashing to the mat, dazed. Alfredo thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Agayev is rocked! Alfredo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Agayev is still in real trouble! Can Alfredo finish him? Alfredo stops Agayev from standing up. Alfredo drops back looking for a leg! Agayev is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Agayev manages to kick Alfredo off! Alfredo jumps back into Agayev's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Agayev controls Alfredo momentarily but Alfredo frees himself. Agayev throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Alfredo is stalling in the full guard. Agayev seems to have recovered his senses. Agayev is trying to hold Alfredo in close to prevent damage but Alfredo has managed to pass into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alfredo sitting and controlling from the half guard. Alfredo 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Alfredo is trying to work for a kimura but Agayev is defending well.
Alfredo is taking a breather. Agayev says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Horrible takedown attempt by Agayev or perhaps it was just good defense by Alfredo , which made it look bad. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Alfredo dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Mikail Agayev's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
A head kick misses from Agayev. Alfredo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Agayev sprawls and moves away. Alfredo fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Agayev has his takedown stuffed and Alfredo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Agayev tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Alfredo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Alfredo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Agayev is trying to improve his position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alfredo is chipping away with strikes.
Agayev is looking for a sweep. George Alfredo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Alfredo trying to control the action but Agayev is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Agayev struggling a bit here. Agayev tries to buck Alfredo off but Alfredo is having none of it. Alfredo scores with punches from side control. Alfredo wants to stand but Agayev is controlling his arm. Alfredo tries to advance to mount but Agayev denies him. Alfredo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Alfredo moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Alfredo decides to take the fight back to the feet. Alfredo shoots in and gets a takedown into Agayev's guard. Alfredo distracts Agayev with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Agayev looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alfredo won't allow Agayev to get back to his feet. Alfredo throwing strikes from guard but Agayev blocks nicely. Alfredo controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Alfredo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Alfredo advances position into side control! Agayev is looking to reverse the position. Alfredo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Agayev can do to turn this around? Alfredo in side control lands a decent elbow. Alfredo takes a little break here. Agayev wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Agayev is not content to let Alfredo control the position. Agayev struggling a bit here. Agayev tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alfredo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. And that's the end of the fight! George Alfredo showed his dominance in that final round. Well Alfredo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
