Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Manny Giselo (ranked 4700 p4p, 0 weight class) and Salman Shamkhalaev (ranked 6012 p4p, 0 weight class). Shamkhalaev has chosen Alter Bridge - Ties That Bind as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Manny Giselo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Salman Shamkhalaev! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shamkhalaev closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Shamkhalaev missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Giselo with the active half guard here but Shamkhalaev passes nicely into side control. Shamkhalaev scoring with punches from side control. Shamkhalaev tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shamkhalaev has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Shamkhalaev cracks Giselo with a big elbow. Shamkhalaev controls the position. Giselo tries to buck Shamkhalaev off but Shamkhalaev is having none of it. Giselo is trying to escape the position but Shamkhalaev is controlling the position. Shamkhalaev working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shamkhalaev landing a few strikes. Shamkhalaev lands a few punches from side control. Shamkhalaev cracks Giselo with a big right hand but Giselo just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Shamkhalaev working the ground and pound. Shamkhalaev tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shamkhalaev has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Shamkhalaev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The referee asks Shamkhalaev politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Shamkhalaev prefers to stall for the moment though. Giselo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Shamkhalaev wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Shamkhalaev connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Giselo some visible discomfort.
Shamkhalaev staying calm. Giselo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shamkhalaev on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. It looks like Shamkhalaev might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shamkhalaev scoring with punches and elbows. Shamkhalaev is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Giselo has escaped the position, nice work there. Shamkhalaev working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shamkhalaev just content to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Giselo is trying to get back to half guard. Shamkhalaev has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Giselo! Shamkhalaev controlling from mount. Shamkhalaev lands a heavy elbow. Shamkhalaev takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Shamkhalaev prevents Giselo from getting the reversal. Shamkhalaev is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Giselo can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shamkhalaev swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Salman Shamkhalaev! A relieved looking Salman Shamkhalaev thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
