Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexandr Kuznetsov (ranked 1222 p4p, 166 weight class) and Alex Mercer (ranked 3300 p4p, 347 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 22 - 4, fighting out of Montreal, Alexandr Kuznetsov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
31 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Mercer! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kuznetsov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mercer throws a looping overhand right but Kuznetsov ducks down to avoid it. Kuznetsov tries to clinch but Mercer is having none of it. Mercer avoids the body shot from Kuznetsov.
Mercer misses with an uppercut. Jab from Mercer. Mercer waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kuznetsov. Kuznetsov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mercer.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Kuznetsov keeps control of Mercer as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Kuznetsov utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Kuznetsov is stalling here.
Kuznetsov tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A frustrated look appears on Mercer's face as he tries to break the clinch. Mercer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Mercer connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Kuznetsov gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Mercer lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Kuznetsov backwards. Kuznetsov misses with some punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kuznetsov creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Kuznetsov throws an elbow that misses.
Kuznetsov blocks a punch to the side of the head.
With the fighters up against the cage, Kuznetsov throws an elbow but misses. A battle for position here, against the cage. Mercer wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mercer is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Mercer struggles to land a body shot inside as Kuznetsov controls his hands.
Kuznetsov misses with a knee strike.
Mercer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Mercer pushing out the jab but it's not landing. A punch lands to the side of Kuznetsov 's head but he takes it in his stride. Mercer scores with a head kick. Kuznetsov tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Mercer moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. A big left from Mercer misses. Kuznetsov digs a good body shot into Mercer's ribs. Kuznetsov with a body punch. A glancing blow. Mercer has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kuznetsov lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kuznetsov blocks a jab. As Mercer tries to get set, Kuznetsov tries to push him back and clinch up but Mercer manages to avoid the attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mercer stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kuznetsov. Kuznetsov uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mercer has time to react. Kuznetsov throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mercer throws a head kick but Kuznetsov moves out of range.
Mercer looks to throw the jab but Kuznetsov is out of range. Kuznetsov swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Mercer takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Mercer swings for the body but Kuznetsov moves out of range.
Mercer fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Kuznetsov scores with a hook to the body. Mercer takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Kuznetsov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mercer was well out of range. Poor timing from Kuznetsov. Mercer avoids the head kick by Kuznetsov.
Kuznetsov defending well as Mercer loads up on a big left hand. A little feinted left hand from Kuznetsov on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Kuznetsov blocks a jab. Mercer moves out of range of the body kick from Kuznetsov.
Kuznetsov tries a head kick but it misses.
Mercer jabs at Kuznetsov's body. Mercer gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Mercer misses with a wild body shot. Mercer takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mercer throws a sloppy head kick letting Kuznetsov counter with a right hand.
Mercer is rocked! Kuznetsov gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Mercer is still on wobbly legs! Can Kuznetsov finish him? A nice glancing elbow lands by Kuznetsov.
It looks like Alex Mercer has been cut. Mercer has a couple of punches blocked by Kuznetsov.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Mercer. Kuznetsov lands a big knee! That's hurt Mercer! Oh, he's all over the place! Kuznetsov lands another knee that sends Mercer to the floor and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alexandr Kuznetsov!
