Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yodwicha Aumkatongchiangmai! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bente Log! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Santiago Holmes and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Log has taken the fight to the clinch.
Log just leaning against Aumkatongchiangmai, taking a breather. Log works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Aumkatongchiangmai looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Log passes into side control.
Log decides to stand back up. Aumkatongchiangmai has his takedown stuffed and Log moves into the clinch. Log pressing his opponent against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Log pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Aumkatongchiangmai looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aumkatongchiangmai fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Log avoids it really well and circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yodwicha Aumkatongchiangmai. That's going to take a lot out of him. Aumkatongchiangmai moves out of range of the body kick. Log scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Aumkatongchiangmai throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Aumkatongchiangmai knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Log on the ground. Log stands up and beckons Aumkatongchiangmai to his feet. Log throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Log has Aumkatongchiangmai up against the cage in a clinch.
Log wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Aumkatongchiangmai has him pressed against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aumkatongchiangmai has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Log is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Aumkatongchiangmai tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Log just stands there and leans against the cage. Log's coach down at Island Safe Space was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Log's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Log decides to pull guard. Log has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Aumkatongchiangmai doesn't defend quickly enough and Log has managed to lock this one up! Can Aumkatongchiangmai escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Log on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Bente Log!
