Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Austin (ranked 2211 p4p, 264 weight class) and Gunnar Impala (ranked 3249 p4p, 372 weight class). Impala is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ambitions of a ridah. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Austin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Gunnar Impala!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Impala shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Austin defends it nicely.
Impala shoots in but Austin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Austin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Impala bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Impala shoots in for a takedown but Austin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Steve Austin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gunnar Impala.
Austin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Impala as he avoids it easily.
Gunnar Impala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Austin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Austin tries to sprawl but Impala drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Austin is trying to control but can't.

Austin looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Austin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Impala pulls his head out easily.
Austin is holding on to half guard well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Austin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Austin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Impala throws an elbow that misses. Austin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Impala's guard. Nice move by Austin!

Austin chips away with some ground and pound.
Impala not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Austin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Impala looking for a guillotine here but Austin defends easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Impala can do anything to dispel that myth.
Austin is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Austin working some strikes from top position.
Austin landing some decent shots from guard.

Impala had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Austin defends it easily.
Austin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Impala's head.
Austin is working Impala over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Austin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Austin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Austin connects with a couple of short punches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Austin lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Austin with a nice head shot there.
Austin is looking to work some ground and pound but Impala has wrist control.
Impala really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Austin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Austin scoring with punches to the head and body.


Impala is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Austin gets to his feet and stands over Impala, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Impala felt that one! Austin unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Impala from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Austin!
An out of breath Steve Austin thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
Gunnar Impala was interviewed post fight and said 'Ill be back stronger. fact.'.
