The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gaeta tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Williams looks to land a right hand but Gaeta moved out of range.
Gaeta fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Williams, pushing him back against the cage.
Williams can't break the clinch.
Gaeta tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Williams just stands there and leans against the cage.
Williams wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Gaeta drops down looking for an ankle pick but Williams pulls his leg out and moves away.
Williams misses with a looping right.

A jab-cross combination lands for Williams and sends Gaeta crashing to the mat! Williams follows him down to the mat - Gaeta regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Gaeta is rocked!
Gaeta tries to roll over but Williams keeps him under control.
Gaeta is still in real trouble! Can Williams finish him?
Williams stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Williams scores with a jab to the body.
Gaeta seems to have recovered his senses.
Gaeta moves in looking to clinch but Williams pushes him off.
Williams throws out a powerful jab.

Williams steps into range and cracks Gaeta with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Gaeta flops backwards and Williams dives into his guard looking to finish!
Williams wants to stand but Gaeta has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Williams will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gaeta is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Gaeta scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Gaeta is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Williams sees it coming and defends easily.
Williams looks like he's trying to stand up.
Williams on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Williams tries to get out of the position.
Williams trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Gaeta is looking for a kimura but Williams is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gaeta to get the leverage.
Williams wants to get back to his feet.

Gaeta throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Williams tries to land a leg kick but Gaeta saw it coming and moves away.
Williams is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gaeta.
Gaeta misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Paul Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felix Gaeta.
Williams lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A jab from Williams finds it's way through Gaeta's defenses.

Gaeta shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Williams but Williams pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gaeta uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Williams.

Williams connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gaeta's hands.
Gaeta is trying desperately to land a takedown but Williams is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Gaeta.

Williams will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Gaeta fails in his attempt to clinch.
Williams connects with a nice looking jab.
Williams feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gaeta's calf.
Williams moves into range and connects with a jab.

Williams cracks Gaeta with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Gaeta takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gaeta has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Williams finds it's way round the side to connect with Gaeta's head.
Williams lands a slapping body shot.
Williams throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gaeta sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Williams sizes up Gaeta with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Paul Williams is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gaeta looks for a takedown but Williams sprawls well.
Gaeta walks into a left hand.
Williams walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Gaeta drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Williams swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Gaeta's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paul Williams!
