Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter Manuel (ranked 304 p4p, 36 weight class) and Jerry Haze (ranked 188 p4p, 25 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Manuel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
30 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerry Haze! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Manuel takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Manuel throws a series of punches but Haze avoids them all with ease. Manuel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Despite the aggression on Haze's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Haze lands a front kick. Haze has taken the fight to the clinch.
Haze has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Manuel regains guard immediately. Manuel looking for a guillotine here but Haze defends easily.
Haze controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Manuel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Haze can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Haze lands a couple of digs. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Haze trying to control the position from guard on top but Manuel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Haze looking to sit in guard and control but Manuel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haze tries to land a sweep but no joy. Haze keeping moving, preventing Manuel from controlling successfully. Manuel with a flurry of punches that miss. Manuel stopping the sweep attempt from Haze. Haze striking off his back but it's not causing Manuel any problems. Manuel passes into half guard. Haze trying to control here.
Manuel wants to control but Haze is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Haze wants to get back to full guard. Haze is trying to maintain the position but Manuel is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Manuel wants to advance to full mount but Haze doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Manuel trying to control the position from guard on top but Haze is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Haze tries to land a sweep but no joy. Manuel is looking to work some ground and pound but Haze has wrist control. Haze is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Manuel defends well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Haze is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Manuel tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Manuel dives in and grabs Haze's left leg, looking for a takedown. Haze pushes down on Manuel's head and hops out. Manuel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Manuel misses with a hook. Haze feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Manuel's calf. Haze lands a nice shot to the body.
Manuel throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Haze misses with a jab to the body
and Manuel counters with a lovely straight right hand! Nice shot lands for Manuel. Haze slips a jab and a cross from Manuel.
Haze blocks a jab. Haze tries to sprawl but Manuel drives through with a takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Haze trying to control from the bottom.
Haze felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Manuel trying to control the action but Haze is working from the bottom. Manuel trying to pass the guard but Haze defending well. Manuel is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Haze doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Manuel. Haze makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Haze. Haze throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

That was a close round but I would say that Peter Manuel will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Manuel connects with a good right hand that stumbles Haze. Haze circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Manuel moves out of range as Haze strikes. Manuel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Manuel wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Haze throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Manuel lands a body shot.

Haze appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Peter Manuel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Manuel on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Manuel gets the takedown into side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Manuel advances to mount. Haze slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Haze regains full guard. Nicely done.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haze throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Manuel working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Manuel trying to control the position from guard on top but Haze is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Haze wants to sweep here but Manuel controlling him for the moment. Manuel wants to control from the top but Haze keeps moving. Manuel stands and throws Haze's legs to the side, diving into side control. Manuel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Haze knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Haze is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. You can see the frustration on Haze's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Haze manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Manuel has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Haze is working away from the top position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Manuel slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Manuel is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Haze content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Manuel looking for a guillotine here but Haze defends easily.
Haze sitting in guard here, content to control. Manuel is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Haze can do to turn this around? Haze trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Manuel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Haze working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Manuel's head. Manuel is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Haze trying to control the position from guard on top but Manuel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Haze keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Manuel's head. Manuel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Haze gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Manuel trying to keep a closed guard but Haze is proving a slippery customer.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Manuel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Haze doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Haze manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Manuel wants to hit a switch here but Haze passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Manuel there! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Peter Manuel will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Haze will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Manuel scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Haze takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Haze throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Haze misses with an uppercut. Haze showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Manuel.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Haze throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Haze throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Haze bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Manuel shoots in and bounces Haze off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Manuel trying to control the position from guard on top but Haze is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haze can't keep his opponent in guard - Manuel advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Manuel is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Manuel wants to work for an arm triangle but Haze is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Manuel uses his free foot to push down on Haze's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Haze. Haze tries to reverse the position but Manuel maintains control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Manuel working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Haze tries to hold on but Manuel postures up. Jerry Haze has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Haze wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Manuel is persistently looking for the submission but Haze is defending it well.
Haze is trying to break free.
Manuel is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Haze defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Manuel seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Haze is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Haze rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Manuel is pressing down on Haze's thigh, looking to free his foot. Haze is holding on for now. Haze is looking for a sweep. Manuel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Haze is pressing down on Manuel's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Haze controls Manuel momentarily but Manuel frees himself. Manuel in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Manuel trying to control but Haze is working from the bottom. Peter Manuel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Manuel lands with a right hand.
And that's the end of the fight! Peter Manuel showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Manuel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
