The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero misses with a takedown attempt - Willis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A left and a right from Willis both land. Nice combination.
It looks like James Romero has been cut.
Willis lands a nice looking body shot.
Romero shoots in for a double leg but Willis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Romero fails with a takedown attempt.
Gary Willis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Romero.
Willis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Romero.
Romero tries to counter by closing the distance.
Willis cracks Romero with an open hand slap.
Romero shoots in for a takedown but Willis shows good takedown defense.
Willis lands a nice hook to Romero's body. Romero takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Gary Willis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
