Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Samuel!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir cracks Samuel with an open hand slap.
Mir pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Nice sprawl there from Samuel as Mir shoots in.
Samuel tries to clinch but Mir moves out of range.
Mir throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Samuel stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Mir takes the fight into the clinch.
Mir throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Samuels head.
Mir works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Mir lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Mir creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Mir lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Samuel backwards.
Samuel wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Mir pulls Samuel into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Samuel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mir has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Samuel has managed to get both his arms back between Mir's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Mir has a closed guard, preventing Samuel from standing up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Samuel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Samuel stopping the sweep attempt from Mir.

Mir is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Samuel rolls with it to try and escape but Mir cranks on the arm and Samuel is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Frank Mir!
A relieved looking Frank Mir thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
