The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Verhoeven tenderised Webster's leg. Webster is trying to keep his angry face on.
Verhoeven connects with a leg kick. Webster looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Webster closes the distance and clinches up with Verhoeven, looking for a takedown. Webster pushes Verhoeven against the cage but Verhoeven circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Webster slips a jab and a cross from Verhoeven.

Webster looking to score a takedown here. Verhoeven is defending well but Webster drives through and ends up in Verhoeven's guard.

Webster stands up from Verhoeven's guard - Webster perhaps looking for a knockout.
Verhoeven comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Verhoeven is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Webster is keeping busy.

Verhoeven is fighting off a takedown attempt but Webster is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Verhoeven to the mat. Verhoeven regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Webster got a little sloppy there for a moment and Verhoeven has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Webster has managed to get both his arms back between Verhoeven's legs - danger averted.

Webster gets to his feet - Verhoeven follows without any prompting.

Webster dives in and grabs Verhoeven's left leg, looking for a takedown. Verhoeven pushes down on Webster's head and hops out.
Verhoeven throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Webster has managed to clinch.
Verhoeven is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Verhoeven escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Verhoeven drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Webster dives on top into guard.

Verhoeven is working an open guard so Webster takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Verhoeven throws a head kick but Webster moves out of range.
Webster avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Verhoeven throws a chopping leg kick but Webster manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Webster closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Verhoeven did well to prevent Webster getting side control.

Webster decides to return to a standing position.
Webster blocks the body kick.
As Verhoeven looks to move away, Webster throws a big counter combo but Verhoeven just gets out of the way.
Verhoeven throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Webster dives in and scores a takedown into Verhoeven's guard.

Webster gets to his feet. Verhoeven looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Webster decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Frank Verhoeven seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Verhoeven is pressed up against the cage. Webster has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Verhoeven down to the mat. Verhoeven avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Webster holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Verhoeven is trying to maintain a safe position but Webster gets an underhook and turns Verhoeven into the cage.

Webster tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Verhoeven defends well and Webster ends up having to push Verhoeven into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Webster closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Arron Webster overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Webster wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Verhoeven, who protects the arm well.

Webster decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Webster chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Verhoeven can pounce on him.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Webster is defended easily by Verhoeven.
Verhoeven appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Webster bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Webster goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Verhoeven rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Webster's guard! Nice work there by Verhoeven!
