Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Aoki (ranked 4566 p4p, 362 weight class) and Jason Bozzi (ranked 4608 p4p, 367 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shinya Aoki !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Bozzi!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bozzi looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Aoki !
Bozzi advances nicely into full mount.
Aoki tries to lock up and control but Bozzi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Aoki working to try and regain half guard.

Aoki is desperately trying to improve his position but Bozzi has a good base and remains in mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bozzi cracks Aoki with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Aoki is looking for a sweep. Bozzi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Aoki trying to hold on to Bozzi's head to control him but Bozzi postures up.
Aoki is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Aoki goes for a double leg but Bozzi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bozzi continues to drive forward.

Bozzi slaps away a takedown attempt from Aoki , before circling back to the center of the mat.

Bozzi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Aoki 's guard.

Aoki has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Aoki has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bozzi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Aoki manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bozzi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Aoki is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Aoki wants to sweep here but Bozzi controlling him for the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Aoki wants to improve his position but instead Bozzi has moved into half guard.

Let's hope that Bozzi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Bozzi wants to free his trapped foot but Aoki is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Bozzi wants to advance to full mount but Aoki doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Jason Bozzi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Aoki darts in looking for a takedown but Bozzi gets double underhooks and turns Aoki into the cage.

Aoki can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bozzi controls the pace.

Bozzi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Bozzi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Aoki has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bozzi has managed to get both his arms back between Aoki 's legs - danger averted.

Jason Bozzi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bozzi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
