Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Butcher (ranked 4218 p4p, 539 weight class) and Brian Pereira (ranked 4216 p4p, 538 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Butcher might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Won't Back Down. Billy Butcher could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Brian Pereira's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Butcher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 19 - 1, fighting out of New York, Brian Pereira! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A good leg kick by Butcher. Pereira scores with a hook to the body. Butcher takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Pereira looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Pereira lands with a nice body punch. Butcher misses with a looping right. Pereira throws a low kick but Butcher moves out of range easily. Pereira's coach down at The Takeover was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Pereira's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Pereira connects with an inside leg kick. Pereira misses with a double jab.
Pereira takes the fight into the clinch. Pereira throws a head punch that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Butcher gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Pereira.

That's one minute gone in the round. A battle for position here, against the cage. Pereira pulls guard. Butcher stopping the sweep attempt from Pereira. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pereira throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Butcher not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Butcher preventing the sweep. Butcher got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pereira has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Butcher has managed to get both his arms back between Pereira's legs - danger averted. Butcher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pereira on the ground.

Pereira looking for a sweep. Not yet Pereira, not yet. Butcher wants to control from the top but Pereira keeps moving.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Butcher scores with a crisp jab that stopped Pereira in his tracks. Pereira swats away the attempt to clinch by Butcher.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Butcher slips under a jab from Pereira. Pereira throws a wild body kick that Butcher sees coming a mile off. Butcher seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Pereira looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Butcher is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Pereira. Pereira gets tackled into the cage by Butcher. Butcher maintains the clinch. Pereira has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Butcher avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Billy Butcher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Pereira. Butcher throws a knee to the head but misses.
Pereira pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Butcher takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
That kick from Pereira tenderised Butcher's leg. Butcher is trying to keep his angry face on. Pereira lands with a kick to the ribs.
Pereira pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Crunch! Pereira slams his shin into Butcher's torso. Pereira clinches with his opponent.
Pereira throws a punch but it's blocked by Butcher. Pereira working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Pereira throws a head punch that misses.

This has been an exciting period of action! Pereira blocks an elbow strike from Butcher.

Pereira goes for a takedown in the clinch but Butcher prevents it.
Pereira lands with a right to the head. Pereira lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Butcher is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Pereira lands a nice shot to the body. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pereira creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Pereira tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Butcher prevents a body shot from Pereira. Butcher prevents a body shot from Pereira. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brian Pereira dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Pereira moves out of range of the strikes. Butcher definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Pereira looks to land a combination. Butcher sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. A slapping leg kick lands for Pereira.

Pereira lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Pereira slips under a jab from Butcher. Butcher throws a solid leg kick but Pereira takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Butcher. Pereira buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
That kick from Pereira tenderised Butcher's leg. Butcher is trying to keep his angry face on. Butcher is looking to clinch but Pereira is avoiding it.
Pereira changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Pereira lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Butcher moves out of range of the strikes. A swing and a miss from Butcher. Pereira tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Pereira throws a low kick but Butcher moves out of range easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pereira looks to land a left hand but Butcher moved out of range nicely. Pereira throws a quick inside leg kick. Butcher tries to bum rush Pereira with a series of wild strikes but Pereira uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Pereira with the counter takedown but Butcher avoids it easily. Butcher takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Pereira fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Butcher has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Butcher avoids the body shot from Pereira.
Pereira takes a swing at Butcher's ribcage but misses. Butcher moves in looking to clinch but Pereira pushes him off. Pereira has Butcher up against the cage in a clinch.
Pereira swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Pereira stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Butcher is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Pereira is leaning against Butcher and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Pereira works on Butcher's body with a couple of short punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Pereira has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Butcher trying to stall but Pereira improves his position.

Butcher throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Pereira blocks it with crossed arms. A short right hand to the side of the head by Pereira. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pereira lands a right hand that snaps the head of Butcher backwards. Pereira lands with a light punch inside. Butcher missing with knees to the body.

Butcher tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Pereira avoids it. Pereira is looking to break free of the clinch but Butcher has double underhooks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Butcher just misses with a elbow thrown towards Pereira's brow. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Pereira as Butcher tries to tie him up. Butcher trying to stall but Pereira improves his position.
Pereira lands a shot to the body. Pereira misses with a punch on the inside.
Pereira is working Butcher over against the cage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Butcher with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Pereira tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Butcher's elbow. Pereira misses with some punches.
Pereira breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Pereira steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Butcher. Butcher showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pereira.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Pereira lands with a shot to the body. Pereira catches Butcher with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Pereira throws a leg kick but Butcher sees it coming and moves out of range. Butcher has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Butcher there as he acknowledges the shot. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pereira scores with a kick to the midsection. Pereira throws a nice outside leg kick. Butcher throws a leg kick which misses Pereira's front leg but catches the back leg as Pereira tries to avoid it. Pereira moves into range and clinches up with Butcher. Pereira cracks Butcher with a nice body shot. Pereira manages to break the clinch.
Butcher is looking to clinch but Pereira is avoiding it.
Billy Butcher is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pereira thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Butcher if he has to take too many more of those.
Good leg kick by Pereira there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Brian Pereira showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Pereira tries to free his leg and advance position but Butcher is retaining full guard. Pereira controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Butcher pulls Pereira in close to prevent any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pereira wants to pass the guard but Butcher is keeping the position. Pereira sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Butcher bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pereira's guard.

Pereira is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Pereira seems keen to control Butcher's posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Pereira takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Butcher takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Pereira bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Butcher throws a right hand that misses
and Pereira counters with a takedown into side control. Butcher holding on. Butcher is looking for a sweep. Pereira landing strikes. Pereira misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pereira trying to control the action but Butcher is working from the bottom. Pereira just content to control the position. Brian Pereira is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pereira tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pereira has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! You can see the frustration on Butcher's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Brian Pereira comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Pereira has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
