The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Submarine or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones, which made it look bad.
Submarine misses with a takedown attempt

and Jones counters with a shoot takedown. Submarine fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones wants to control from the top but Submarine keeps moving.
Jones is looking to stand up but Submarine won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Submarine is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.

Submarine has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jones is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Submarine.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Submarine tries to bench press Jones off him but Jones keeps the position.

Submarine is looking to regain half guard here but Jones keeps moving and retains side control.

Jones is looking for a kimura but Submarine is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jones to get the leverage.

Submarine is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jones pulls his head out easily.
