TWGC 21 (135lbs, D1): Finals - Round 2 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a bantamweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Yas Uru (ranked 2140 p4p, 107 weight class) and Dixie Pablo Khakhold (ranked 262 p4p, 35 weight class). Khakhold has chosen Penis song as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 2 losses; Yas Uru! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Dixie Pablo Khakhold!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Phil Schofield and Chris Edwards.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Uru closes the distance and pushes Khakhold back into the cage.

Khakhold successfully pulls guard.
Uru wants to control from the top but Khakhold keeps moving.
Uru is really struggling to control Khakhold but he's trying to hold on to the position.
We've been hearing that Uru has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khakhold has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Uru has passed into side control.

Khakhold tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Uru wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Uru trying to control the action but Khakhold is working from the bottom.
Khakhold is trying to control Uru's posture but Uru avoids it.
Khakhold sneaks back into half guard.

Khakhold is trying to maintain the position but Uru is very close to passing his half guard.

Uru wants to take a breather but Khakhold is having none of it.

Khakhold has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Uru is working away from the top position though.

Uru has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

I really don't envy Khakhold right now.
Uru is riding his opponent, not letting Khakhold buck him off.
Uru keeps control of the position as Khakhold tries to break free.
Khakhold looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Uru doesn't have the hooks in and Khakhold manages to turn into his guard.

Khakhold stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Uru swivels though and keeps the full guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Khakhold working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Khakhold won't allow Uru to sweep him here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Uru has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Khakhold stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Uru swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Uru bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Khakhold's guard.

Khakhold has his foot on Uru's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Uru works his way back into a safe position though.
Uru stays in close to Khakhold's body and controls the position.

Uru wants to pass the guard but Khakhold is keeping the position.

Khakhold looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Uru trying to control but Khakhold is working from the bottom.
Uru sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Uru got a little sloppy there for a moment and Khakhold has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Uru has managed to get both his arms back between Khakhold's legs - danger averted.

Khakhold escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Uru gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.

Uru is sitting in close to Khakhold's body. Khakhold has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Uru is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Uru is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Khakhold.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Dixie Pablo Khakhold!
