Coming up we have a bantamweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between James Osterberg (ranked 4888 p4p, 222 weight class) and Pozar Pozar (ranked 7101 p4p, 286 weight class). Pozar has chosen z Buta Wjeżdzam as his entrance music. Pozar Pozar is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 2 losses; James Osterberg! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 3 losses; Pozar Pozar! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Osterberg tries to clinch but Pozar moves out of range. Osterberg tries to keep at a distance but Pozar has taken the fight into the clinch. Pozar prevents a takedown attempt there.
Pozar has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Osterberg regains guard immediately. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Osterberg (0) vs (2) Pozar Pozar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Osterberg wants to sweep but no luck. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Osterberg is working hard here to advance position. Osterberg is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Pozar sitting in guard here, content to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pozar wants to control from the top but Osterberg keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Osterberg trying to keep a closed guard but Pozar is proving a slippery customer.
Pozar is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Pozar trying to control the position from guard on top but Osterberg is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Osterberg wants to sweep here but Pozar controlling him for the moment. Pozar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Osterberg swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pozar trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Osterberg manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Osterberg (2) vs (2) Pozar Pozar is looking to cinch up a triangle. Osterberg throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Pozar's body to avoid the submission. Pozar has instead reached around Osterberg's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Pozar arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Pozar Pozar! Pozar Pozar opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see. |
