Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chienh Chih Wu (ranked 5272 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomasz Soszynski (ranked 5399 p4p, 0 weight class). Chienh Chih Wu is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chienh Chih Wu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tomasz Soszynski!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soszynski takes a kick to the side of the head.
Wu tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Soszynski defends well and Wu ends up having to push Soszynski into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Soszynski lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
A good leg kick by Wu.

Wu closes the distance and pushes Soszynski back into the cage.
Wu is looking for a takedown.

Wu breaks the clinch.
Wu darts in looking for a takedown but Soszynski gets double underhooks and turns Wu into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chienh Chih Wu. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Soszynski darts in and clinches Wu up against the cage.
Wu stalling in the clinch but Soszynski improves position.

Wu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Soszynski paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Soszynski counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Soszynski lands a jab to Wu's midsection.
Wu is breathing heavily.
Soszynski throws a head kick but Wu moves out of range.
Wu doesn't manage to clinch there - Soszynski circles away.
Soszynski moves out of range of the strikes.
Soszynski is looking for the big counter here.

Soszynski gets a double leg takedown into Wu's guard.
Wu will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Soszynski's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Soszynski wants to stand but Wu is controlling his posture from full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Soszynski has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wu is proving hard to escape from.
Soszynski has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wu looking to hit a scissor sweep but Soszynski is one step ahead there.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Soszynski closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Wu's guard.
Soszynski would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Wu is working hard here to advance position.
Soszynski passes into half guard.
Wu knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Soszynski on the ground.

Soszynski looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Soszynski prevents Wu from improving his position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Soszynski is working for a submission of some sort.
Soszynski trying to control the action but Wu is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wu is looking for a sweep. Soszynski is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wu gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Wu has an active guard here but Soszynski has managed to pass into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Wu tries to roll over but Soszynski keeps him under control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wu has a closed guard, preventing Soszynski from standing up.
Wu is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Soszynski won't allow Wu to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Horrible takedown attempt by Wu or perhaps it was just good defense by Soszynski, which made it look bad.
As Wu backs off Soszynski throws a huge counter combo but Wu manages to avoid it all.
Wu fails in his attempt to clinch.
Soszynski has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Wu tries for a takedown but Soszynski circles away easily
and Soszynski counters with a straight right hand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wu darts in looking for a takedown but Soszynski gets double underhooks and turns Wu into the cage.

Soszynski pulls guard successfully.
Soszynski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wu's guard.

Soszynski throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wu works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Soszynski is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Wu has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Soszynski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Tomasz Soszynski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Wu doesn't manage to clinch there - Soszynski circles away.
Wu keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Wu tries to score a power double leg takedown but Soszynski sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wu somewhat.
Soszynski lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Soszynski tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Wu avoids it.
Soszynski can't get the takedown.

Wu is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Soszynski to keep the fight standing.
Soszynski tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wu smiles and moves away.
Chienh Chih Wu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tomasz Soszynski.
Wu shoots in but no luck this time.

Soszynski shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Soszynski is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Soszynski not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Wu is trying to escape back to his feet but Soszynski uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Wu wants to control but Soszynski postures up.
Wu is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Soszynski asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wu can't do much from the bottom here.

Soszynski tries for a kimura but Wu is defending well.
Wu is trying to get back to half guard.

Wu is not content to let Soszynski control the position.
Wu is trying to control Soszynski's posture but Soszynski avoids it.

Soszynski is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Wu looks calm but he's in trouble here. Soszynski gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Wu is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Soszynski lets go of the hold and Wu can pop his arm back in it's socket.
