Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Christian Buckley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nate Zappa! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buckley misses with a few strikes there.
Zappa closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Buckley quickly recovers to half guard. Buckley is looking to improve his position.
Zappa thows a huge punch but Buckley dodges it nicely.
Buckley wants to control but Zappa is keeping busy.
Zappa is trying to work for a kimura but Buckley is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Buckley blocking the ground and pound attempt from Zappa. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zappa is working for a kimura but Buckley is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round. Buckley avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Zappa. Zappa is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Zappa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Zappa thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Buckley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Zappa is working away from the top position though. Buckley keeps control of the position for the meantime. Buckley is trying to control but can't.
Zappa lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Zappa lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zappa wants to work for an arm triangle but Buckley is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Buckley is rocked! Buckley is trying to control but Zappa passes into side control!
Buckley is trying to improve his position. Zappa is working to tighten his grip on Buckley's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Buckley has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Zappa is really squeezing tight and eventually Buckley passes out! Zappa breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
