Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elidio Munhoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Sergio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Sergio! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Munhoz shoots in for a takedown but Sergio shows good takedown defense. Paulo Sergio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Munhoz fails to land the takedown. Sergio with a lazy takedown attempt and Munhoz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Munhoz. Munhoz gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Sergio darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sergio tries to pass the half guard into mount. Munhoz knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Munhoz actively working from the bottom here. Sergio trying to control from half guard but Munhoz is working away. Munhoz is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Sergio pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sergio is tying to control. Munhoz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Sergio is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Munhoz fails with the takedown and Sergio counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sergio. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Elidio Munhoz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sergio breaks the clinch.
Munhoz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sergio counters by clinching up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sergio is leaning against Munhoz and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Sergio escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sergio scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Sergio lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Sergio wants to free his trapped foot but Munhoz is holding on for dear life with his legs. Well, if Sergio is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Munhoz looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Munhoz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Sergio blocks the strikes from Munhoz.
Sergio trying to control from half guard but Munhoz is working away. Munhoz is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sergio scores with a couple of nice shots. Sergio decides to stand up. Sergio shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Munhoz counters with a body kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Munhoz shoots and misses so Sergio counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Munhoz working for a triangle but Sergio defends it easily.
Sergio would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Munhoz wants to sweep but no luck. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sergio wants to pass the guard but Munhoz is keeping the position. Paulo Sergio dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Sergio shoots in for a takedown but Munhoz shows good takedown defense. Munhoz with a poor takedown and Sergio counters with a two punch combo. Munhoz misses with a takedown attempt and Sergio counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Sergio's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Sergio duly obliges. Sergio looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Munhoz! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Munhoz bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's one minute gone in the round. Munhoz throws a big right hand that misses. Sergio is trying to keep Munhoz in close.
Munhoz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sergio is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sergio has escaped and now he's on top! Sergio is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Paulo Sergio has got the better of the ground game so far. Munhoz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Munhoz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sergio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Sergio not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Sergio trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Sergio must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Sergio wants to control from the top but Munhoz keeps moving. Munhoz is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Sergio has his hands clasped together but Munhoz extends an breaks Sergio's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Munhoz.
