Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Basil Brubaker (ranked 4835 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devon Clarke (ranked 9127 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Basil Brubaker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Devon Clarke! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clarke fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brubaker avoids it really well and circles away. Brubaker bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Clarke's head. Brubaker with a body punch. A glancing blow. Clarke is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Brubaker blocks a low kick nicely. A looping hook to the body misses from Brubaker. Clarke does a little dance to reset his feet. Brubaker shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Clarke's guard. Clarke really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brubaker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Brubaker drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Brubaker jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Clarke keeping moving, preventing Brubaker from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brubaker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Brubaker throws a big elbow that misses. Brubaker trying to control the position from guard on top but Clarke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Brubaker working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brubaker in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Brubaker missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Brubaker in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Brubaker stands and steps away. Clarke gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Clarke darts in looking for a takedown but Brubaker gets double underhooks and turns Clarke into the cage. Clarke drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Clarke takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Clarke is rocked! Clarke walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Clarke is still on wobbly legs! Can Brubaker finish him? A left lands for Brubaker. Brubaker lands with an overhand left. Brubaker digs a good hook to Clarke's body.
Nice takedown defense from Brubaker. No joy for Clarke on that attempt. Brubaker drops down looking for a counter takedown but Clarke sprawls and moves away. Basil Brubaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Devon Clarke. Brubaker misses with a straight left. Clarke tries to counter by closing the distance. Clarke uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Brubaker. Clarke seems to have recovered his senses. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Clarke fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brubaker lands a glancing blow to the side of Clarke's head. Brubaker scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Brubaker darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Brubaker lands a head shot. Brubaker bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Clarke! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Brubaker arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Clarke's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Basil Brubaker!
