Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Some Guy (ranked 5812 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Eardley (ranked 6647 p4p, 0 weight class). Brad Eardley has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Some Guy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brad Eardley! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Guy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Eardley as he avoids it easily. Eardley looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Guy misses the jab. Eardley feints and then cracks Guy's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Guy down. Guy takes a swing at Eardley's ribcage but misses. A left and a right from Guy both land. Nice combination. Guy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Eardley sprawls well initially but Guy persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Eardley kicks Guy off and gets back to his feet. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Eardley gets tackled into the cage by Guy. Guy maintains the clinch. Guy drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Eardley has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Guy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's one minute gone in the round. Guy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Eardley fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Some Guy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Eardley closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Guy forces Eardley back against the cage and clinches. Guy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Eardley looks for the body kick but Guy saw that one coming. Guy rushes Eardley and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Guy ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Guy no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Guy wants to sweep here but Eardley controlling him for the moment. Guy pulls Eardley in close to prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Eardley trying to control but Guy is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Eardley won't allow Guy to sweep him here. Guy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Eardley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Guy working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Eardley has passed into half guard!
Guy is trying to control but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eardley prevents Guy from improving his position. Guy is positioning himself well to prevent Eardley advancing to mount. Eardley stops Guy from getting back to his feet.
Guy is looking for a sweep. Eardley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Guy controlling the position for now.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Guy has taken the fight to the clinch.
Guy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Eardley dives in and grabs Guy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Guy pushes down on Eardley's head and hops out. Guy is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Guy clinches up against the cage. Guy jumps guard and drags Eardley to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Guy trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Guy wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Guy trying to keep a closed guard but Eardley is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Some Guy dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Guy wants to clinch up but Eardley keeps it at a distance. Eardley slips a jab and a cross from Guy.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Eardley! But no joy. Horrible takedown attempt by Guy or perhaps it was just good defense by Eardley, which made it look bad. Guy wants to clinch. Guy throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Guy tries to clinch but Eardley moves out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Eardley throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Guy. Guy went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Guy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Eardley as he jumps to the side. Guy throws a half hearted mid kick. Guy moves into the clinch. Eardley is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eardley takes a shot to the head. Guy manages to break the clinch.
Eardley tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nice sprawl there from Eardley as Guy shoots in. Eardley lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Some Guy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Guy tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Eardley defends well and Guy ends up having to push Eardley into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Eardley swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Guy counters by clinching up. Eardley blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Guy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Guy shoots in for a double leg but Eardley sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Guy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Eardley manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Guy pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Eardley unleashes a big counter combination but Guy bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Guy. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Guy. Guy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Guy fails with the takedown. Guy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Eardley can do to turn this around? Eardley jabbing away but nothing is landing. Guy closes the distance and clinches. Guy stalling in the clinch.

Some Guy is winning the standup battle so far. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Guy throws a low kick but it's checked well by Eardley.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guy has closed the distance and engaged Eardley in a clinch.
Eardley gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Guy.
Guy breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Eardley looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Guy trying to control from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Guy wants to improve his position but Eardley is controlling well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Guy keeping hold of Eardley's head, controlling as best he can. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Guy is refusing to be controlled, as Eardley sits in half guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Some Guy will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Some Guy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Guy successfully pulls guard.

Guy tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Eardley has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Guy wants to hold on but Eardley pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Guy tries to get out of the position. Eardley misses with a head shot. Eardley prevents Guy from getting the reversal. Guy tries to lock up and control but Eardley gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Guy is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Eardley is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Eardley sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Eardley tries to control but Guy wriggling away. Brad Eardley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Guy squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Guy is working hard here to advance position. Some Guy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Eardley punching from mount but Guy doing a good job of avoiding damage.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Some Guy. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Guy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
