Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tomasz Soszynski (ranked 3262 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Wid (ranked 3163 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tomasz Soszynski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Thomas Wid! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wid throws a lazy right hand but Soszynski sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Soszynski shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wid as he jumps to the side. Wid swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Soszynski looks for a takedown but Wid sprawls well. Soszynski slips under a jab. Wid rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Soszynski counters with a nice uppercut. Soszynski defending well as Wid loads up on a big left hand. Soszynski wants to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wid closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wid lands in his opponent's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wid accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wid wants to pass the guard but Soszynski is keeping the position. Wid really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Soszynski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Soszynski can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wid controls the pace. It looks like Wid might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Wid pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Soszynski is keeping the position for now. Wid controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Let's hope that Wid has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Soszynski steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Wid. Soszynski ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Soszynski shoots and misses so Wid counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tomasz Soszynski. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wid stopping the sweep attempt from Soszynski. Wid keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Soszynski's head. Wid looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wid lands a couple of digs. Wid distracts Soszynski with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Wid sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Soszynski wants to sweep here but Wid controlling him for the moment. Wid is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Wid advances position into side control! Wid working away. Soszynski tries to improve position but can't. Wid cracks Soszynski with a big elbow. Wid lands a few punches from side control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wid is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Soszynski will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Wid in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Soszynski's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Soszynski duly obliges. Wid's coach down at Island Safe Space was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Wid's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Wid looks to land a right hand but Soszynski moved out of range. Wid gets a double leg takedown into Soszynski's guard. Soszynski is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Wid dives into side control.
Wid scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Soszynski to see if he's OK. Wid lands some shots froms side control. A lull in the action here as Wid stalls from top position. Soszynski gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Wid is figuring out what he wants to do next.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wid's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Wid drops an elbow to the side of Soszynski's head. Wid is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Soszynski wants to get back to full guard. Wid keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Wid is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Wid looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Wid lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Soszynski taking some punishment here, with Wid in his half guard. Nice strikes from Wid there. Soszynski wants to control but Wid is keeping busy and won't allow it. Wid trying to mount his opponent but Soszynski defends it. Soszynski wants to control but Wid is keeping busy.

Soszynski is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Wid cracks Soszynski with a big right hand but Soszynski just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Soszynski is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Wid lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Soszynski down.
Wid cracks Soszynski with a big elbow. Wid working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Soszynski takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wid connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Soszynski some visible discomfort.
Soszynski tries to get back to half guard but can't. Wid lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Soszynski down.

Thomas Wid showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!
Wid shoots in and bounces Soszynski off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Wid looking to improve position, pressing down on Soszynski's thigh with his hand. Soszynski seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Wid paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Wid's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Soszynski picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
