PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Kneipp (ranked 7435 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Lee (ranked 6134 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Guess who’s back - Rakim kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Robert Kneipp could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Kevin Lee's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Robert Kneipp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kevin Lee!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee pushes Kneipp up against the cage in a clinch.

Kneipp breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lee.
A lull in the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kneipp some visible discomfort.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee cracks Kneipp with a big right hand but Kneipp just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Kneipp tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lee wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kneipp tries to escape but Lee is in control.
Lee content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kneipp wants to get back to his feet.
Kneipp is letting Lee control him for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kneipp has Lee up against the cage in a clinch.

Kneipp tries to pull guard but Lee forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Lee has hold of one of Kneipp's legs. Kneipp is fighting the takedown attempt but Lee gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Lee working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kneipp's head.

Lee won't allow Kneipp to sweep him here.
Lee stands and throws Kneipp's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Kneipp takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Nice uppercut there from Kneipp.
Kneipp cracks Lee with a right hand to the side of the head.
Lee darts in looking for a takedown but Kneipp gets double underhooks and turns Lee into the cage.

Lee can't do much from the bottom here.
Lee gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Kneipp seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Lee is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Lee is not content to let Kneipp control the position.
Lee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lee keeping hold of Kneipp's head, controlling as best he can.
Kevin Lee has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kneipp wants to stand but Lee has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Lee drives through with a takedown into Kneipp's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Lee works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Kneipp has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lee is working away from the top position though.

Kneipp tries to get to full guard but Lee has control of the leg.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lee is continuing to stall.
Lee works his way into full mount!

Lee takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Kneipp scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Kevin Lee has been cut.
Robert Kneipp is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lee fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kneipp tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kneipp misses with a leg kick

and Lee counters with a single leg into guard. Kneipp didn't expect that.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee won't allow Kneipp to get back to his feet.

Lee is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Let's hope that Lee has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kneipp cracks Lee with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Kneipp tries to clinch

and Lee decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kneipp's guard.
Lee controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kneipp can't keep his opponent in guard - Lee advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee stops Kneipp from getting back to his feet.
Lee with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Kneipp looks like he's trying to stand up.
Still in half guard, Lee seems content to control.
Lee takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Well, if Lee is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Lee wants to pass to mount but Kneipp is defending the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lee scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Lee seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Kneipp is trying to stand back up but Lee is controlling him
Lee working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Lee's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Kevin Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Lee winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Kevin Lee rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
