Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Johnson (ranked 794 p4p, 113 weight class) and Gideon Navarro (ranked 1418 p4p, 181 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Navarro moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Johnson tries to score with a low kick but Navarro moves his leg out of the way.

Navarro clinches up with Johnson and pushes him back against the cage.

We've been hearing reports that Johnson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Navarro ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Navarro no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Johnson is looking to work some ground and pound but Navarro has wrist control.

Navarro is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Johnson defends well.

Johnson wants to stand but Navarro has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Navarro is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Johnson has his hands clasped together but Navarro extends and breaks Johnson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Navarro.
