Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Boomer Rang! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Valentin Gorlanov! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rang shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gorlanov napping and manages to drive through into side control! Gorlanov tries to buck Rang off but Rang is having none of it. Gorlanov is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Gorlanov looks winded! The ground and pound from Rang seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Rang is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gorlanov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Rang creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Gorlanov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Gorlanov is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rang throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Gorlanov tries to bench press Rang off him but Rang keeps the position. Rang lands an elbow. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gorlanov is trying to get back to half guard. Gorlanov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rang. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rang has knee on belly and moves into mount. Rang looking to finish Gorlanov with some ground and pound. This is bad for Gorlanov! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! BOOM! Rang connects with a massive shot to the dome!

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gorlanov is looking to get to half guard. Gorlanov gets back to half guard. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Rang pushes past his half guard into mount! Rang tries to control but Gorlanov wriggling away. Rang is really struggling to control Gorlanov but he's trying to hold on to the position. Rang is landing with some decent strikes but Gorlanov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Rang prevents Gorlanov from getting the reversal. Rang punishing his opponent with strikes. Rang manages to capitalize on a mistake by Gorlanov to take his back! Gorlanov breaks Rang's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Gorlanov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Let's hope that Gorlanov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Rang looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rang can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gorlanov controls the pace. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rang is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gorlanov is aware though and is defending well. Rang is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Rang shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gorlanov pinned against the cage. Gorlanov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Boomer Rang is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rang changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gorlanov tries to avoid it but Rang manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gorlanov to the ground. Gorlanov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Gorlanov scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Rang regains full guard. Nicely done. Gorlanov looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Rang is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Rang is working hard here to advance position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rang trying to keep a closed guard but Gorlanov is proving a slippery customer.

Valentin Gorlanov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Las Vegas inform us that Gorlanov has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Rang lands a couple of elbows. Gorlanov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rang gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rang postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rang works his way back into a safe position though. Rang advances to half guard. In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Boomer Rang! In his post fight interview, Boomer Rang started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
