Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dennis Steiner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Micalinni! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Micalinni connects with a single shot there. Sam Micalinni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Micalinni tries to close the distance and clinch up but Steiner swats him away and circles back towards the center. Steiner uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Micalinni. Steiner is looking to counter punch. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Micalinni has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Micalinni misses with a double jab
enabling Steiner to counter with a crisp jab. Micalinni takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Steiner listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Steiner swats away the attempt to clinch by Micalinni. Steiner lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Steiner throws the left hand but Micalinni avoids the punch easily. Micalinni with the counter takedown but Steiner avoids it easily. Steiner waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Micalinni. Nice jab there from Steiner. Micalinni tries to clinch up. Micalinni connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Steiner's hands. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Steiner ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steiner jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Micalinni misses with a lunging right hand
and Steiner counters with a straight right hand.
Micalinni is rocked! Micalinni wants to clinch up but Steiner keeps it at a distance. An attempted straight right counter from Steiner misses the target. Micalinni tries to clinch there but Steiner circles away.
Micalinni misses with a body kick. Micalinni slips a jab from Steiner. Steiner is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Steiner looks to land a left hand but Micalinni moved out of range nicely. Micalinni looks to land a body kick but Steiner moved away. Steiner throws out a loose jab but Micalinni uses good head movement to avoid it. Steiner misses with a looping right. Micalinni with the counter takedown but Steiner avoids it easily. Micalinni misses with a combination
and Steiner counters with a nice uppercut. Steiner has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Heritage Gym in the buildup to the fight. Micalinni waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Steiner. Good shot there by Micalinni. Micalinni defending well as Steiner loads up on a big left hand. Micalinni tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Steiner tests Micalinni's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A head kick by Micalinni misses and Steiner counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. This has been an exciting period of action! Micalinni throws an off balance right hand
and Steiner counters with a crisp right hand that drops Micalinni! Steiner lets Micalinni back up to his feet, looking for a finish! Micalinni is still on wobbly legs! Can Steiner finish him? Micalinni misses with a combination
and Steiner counters with a powerful cross that connects right on the chin and the lights go out! A massive one punch knock out!
