Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Kirby (ranked 6232 p4p, 136 weight class) and Zou Li (ranked 6152 p4p, 131 weight class). Antonio Kirby had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirby tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Li paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Li lands with a nice body punch.
Kirby takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A solid leg kick lands there for Li.
Li uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kirby has time to react.
Li loads up on a big right hand but Kirby slips the punch.
Li throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Li misses with an uppercut.
Li lands a body shot.
Nice shot lands for Li.
Li scores with a jab. Kirby acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Li throws a looping overhand right but Kirby ducks down to avoid it.
Kirby shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Li but Li pushes him off and we're back to square one.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kirby stands and throws Li's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Li is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Kirby remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Kirby decides to stand up, so the ref orders Li to his feet.
Li fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kirby shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kirby showed some decent athleticism there.
Kirby stands up and beckons Li to join him on the feet.
Zou Li is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kirby throws a leg kick
and Li counters with a straight right hand.
Kirby wants to clinch up but Li keeps it at a distance.

Kirby shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Li pinned against the cage. Li gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Li throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kirby stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Li throws an overhand right that lands on Kirby's shoulder, as Kirby tries to avoid the shot.
Kirby swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Kirby has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Li.
Li misses with a hook
and Kirby counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Li pushes Kirby off but Kirby dives into side control.
Kirby lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Li down.
Kirby just content to control the position.
Kirby is trying to get an arm triangle but Li is defending well.

and Kirby counters with a nice double leg into side control. Li won't be happy with that.
Li is looking to get back to his feet here but Kirby is keeping cool and he's managed to take Li's back.

Kirby shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Li manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kirby has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Li, as that shot connected.

Kirby's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A swing and a miss from Li.
Li lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Zou Li comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
