Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alan Patton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tywan Woods! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woods changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Patton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Patton is not content to let Woods control the position. Woods is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Patton sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Patton is not content to let Woods control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ground and pound from Woods. Patton is trying to control but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round. Woods prevents Patton from improving his position. Patton is staying active underneath Woods, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Woods trying to advance position but Patton counters by regaining guard. Patton looking to control.
Woods trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Woods controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Woods loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Patton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Woods's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Woods can do anything to dispel that myth. Patton working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Patton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Patton postures up.
Woods looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Patton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Woods holds on and takes a little breather.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Patton tries for a takedown but Woods sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patton shoots in for a takedown but Woods shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Woods shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Woods lands a nice short elbow. Well, if Woods is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Woods's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Woods is just content to waste time from the top position. Patton takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Woods distracts Patton with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Woods showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Patton seems keen to control Woods's posture. Patton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Woods doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Woods manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Woods controls from within his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Tywan Woods will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Patton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Woods as he jumps to the side. Woods shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Patton manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Patton looking to control.
Woods wants to control from the top but Patton keeps moving. Woods postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Woods tries to free his leg and advance position but Patton is retaining full guard. Woods postures up in Patton's guard and throws a big left but Patton blocks it. Patton working a defensive guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woods working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Patton's head. Patton wants to sweep but no luck. Woods scoring with punches to the head and body. Woods pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Patton is keeping the position for now. Woods postures up and lands a big shot to Patton's brow. Woods throws an elbow that misses. Patton uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Woods's guard. Nice move by Patton! Woods controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woods looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Patton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Woods is trying to control the position but Patton postures up. Patton throws a big elbow that misses. Woods is trying to hold Patton in close to prevent damage but Patton has managed to pass into half guard.
Patton lands strikes from half guard. Woods tries to roll over but Patton keeps him under control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patton throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Woods looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Woods controlling the position well.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Woods feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Patton pushes Woods off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Patton wants to clinch and Woods counters with a lovely shot to the body. Patton shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Patton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Woods to score an easy takedown into full guard. Patton pushes Woods off and scrambles back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Woods looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Patton! Woods really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Patton is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Alan Patton will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

He's shot a load of snot all down Patton's shoulder. That is not cool. Patton is not content to let Woods control the position. Patton manages to work his way to half guard, despite Woods's best efforts. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Woods takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Patton tries to kick Woods off but Woods keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Woods throws a strike but Patton avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patton trying to keep a closed guard but Woods is proving a slippery customer.
Woods is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Patton wants to stand but Woods is controlling the position. Woods preventing the sweep. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Patton keeping moving, preventing Woods from controlling successfully.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Tywan Woods is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Woods shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Patton napping and manages to drive through into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woods controlling the position. Woods creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Woods wants to lay and pray for a moment but Patton keeps working. Patton is trying to control Woods's posture but Woods avoids it. Woods grinds an elbow into Patton's temple. Woods looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Patton is avoiding damage well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woods is chipping away with strikes.
Woods tries to advance to mount but Patton denies him. Woods thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Woods tries to advance position but instead Patton slips a leg back in to half guard. Woods is looking to advance position but Patton won't allow it.

Woods wants to control but Patton is keeping him busy. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Woods in particular looking to stall. Patton is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Woods scores with a couple of nice shots. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Woods connects with a nice short shot to Patton's temple. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Woods winds up and cracks Patton with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Patton is rocked! Woods working over Patton with some ground and pound. Patton looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Oh Patton is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Woods is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Woods lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Patton! More strikes land and this one is all over! Woods jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
